We are looking for an Appliance Install Helper to join our growing team!
At PDI, our goal is to always be committed to providing quality products with prompt, efficient, courteous service in all segments of our business. We pride ourselves in keeping flexibility of procedures and policy at the forefront so that customer needs are always satisfied.
Since 1973, we have maintained our position as a leader in the wholesale distribution industry and offer first-class service to customers in the residential and commercial plumbing industries, as well as home builders, interior designers, re-modelers, and homeowners. We operate 19 branch locations and 14 showrooms throughout Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina.
Function: Works with Outside Sales, Showroom Sales, and Branch Operations to install appliances sold from the branches.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Appliance Installer with the installation of appliances at residential and commercial customer locations.
  • Safely move, transport, position, and stage appliances in preparation for installation.
  • Unbox appliances and inspect them for visible damage or missing components before installation.
  • Assist with positioning appliances according to installation requirements and customer expectations.
  • Assist with the removal and haul-away of existing appliances when authorized and appropriate.
  • Protect floors, walls, cabinets, and other customer property during delivery and installation activities.
  • Assist with the safe loading and unloading of appliances, tools, equipment, and installation materials.
  • Follow all applicable safety procedures and manufacturer installation requirements.
  • Remove packaging materials, debris, and other waste generated during the delivery and installation process.
  • Remove protective coverings and materials from appliances when appropriate.
  • Clean and organize the installation area upon completion of the job.
  • Retrieve, organize, and maintain installation tools and equipment.
  • Report damaged appliances, property damage, missing parts, installation issues, or other concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Assist with maintaining the installation vehicle, tools, and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Assist with the movement and installation of appliance display units in PDI showrooms.
  • Assist branch operations with appliance-related projects and other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in appliance delivery, installation, warehouse operations, construction, moving, delivery, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Experience working with hand tools and basic installation equipment is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of residential appliances, plumbing, electrical systems, or construction is a plus.
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, move, and position appliances weighing 75+ pounds, with assistance and proper equipment when required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn appliance installation procedures.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, manufacturer specifications, and established safety procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving and reasoning skills.
  • Strong verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a two-person installation team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently when completing assigned support and cleanup responsibilities.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, or varying schedules when necessary to meet customer and business needs.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record, if required for the assigned location and position.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, moving equipment, dollies, straps, and other equipment required for appliance delivery and installation support.
