Job description

The Production Specialist I visually inspects manufactured units for defects, and packs and labels product according to customer's specifications while ensuring compliance with work instructions and standard operating procedures.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Visually inspects sheets for defects and notifies appropriate individuals immediately if any are found.
  2. Follow required procedures to ensure customer orders are done correctly.
  3. Verify work instructions.
  4. Confirms packaging materials and signs off on documentation.
  5. Applies label to bag/box.
  6. Maintains the overall cleanliness of the workstation area.
  7. Maintains good attendance in accordance with company guidelines.
  8. Adheres to all company health and safety policies and procedures.
  9. Performs other tasks as assigned.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent training and/or experience.

Experience:    Entry Level  

Other skills and abilities required include:

  1. Language skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to write simple correspondence in English.
  2. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but simple written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. 
  3. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common diagram form. 
  4. Basic understanding of Quality methods, gauges, and procedures.

Physical/Mental Requirements
Physical Demands: Medium Work - Lifting of 50 pounds maximum. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.  Employees lifting over 30 pounds must ask for assistance.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.

The noise level in the work environment is within prescribed OSHA guidance levels.  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to odors associated with plastics manufacturing.  The employee is required to wear clean room gown, rubber gloves and hair/beard covering.
