Job description

SUMMARY:Review customer supplied drawings, specifications, unit volumes, target pricing, and other project inputs, and translate that information into development and/or manufacturing requirements such as tooling, process steps, equipment, run rates, materials, quality plans, and packaging; and finally, assembling all of the information into a formal quotation package of price and lead time to the customer.
 

Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Gather and assess the technical input details of a quote request packet including reviewing bills of materials, component and assembly drawings, dimensional tolerances, product specifications, and when possible, sample parts to ensure that all information needed from the customer to generate an accurate quotation is on file at Innovize prior to starting the quotation.
  • Conduct due diligence of Innovize’s prior experience with the technical requirements of a quote request to ensure that the assumptions going into the final quotation are robust, fact-based, and give high probability that the job will have the capability of being manufactured and profitable to Innovize at the quoted volumes.
  • Work and lead a cross-functional team to develop detailed work instructions, set up diagrams, troubleshooting guides, and tooling specifications for new jobs to ensure successful first production runs as well as ongoing production runs that meet customer requirements, ship on time, and are profitable to Innovize.

Training/Education/Experience:

  • Post High School education, preferably an engineering or technical degree.
  • 5 years manufacturing experience, 2 years medical manufacturing preferred.
  • Knowledge of screen printing, die cutting, rotary fabrication, or other manufacturing processes that include precision tooling and plastic fabrication.
  • Proficient PC skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook. CAD experience a plus.

Competencies/Talents/Personal Attributes:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong math skills with the ability to understand basic statistics such as means, standard deviations, process capability, centering of dimensions and CPK’s. Ability to develop math equations used for estimating material usage, scrap factors, labor content, efficiencies, and profit margins.
  • Ability to read prints and understand geometric dimensioning and tolerances.
  • Ability to understand material characteristics, tooling specifications, equipment, and how materials, tooling, and process settings interact to affect the overall tolerance capability of various product designs.
  • Ability to understand the big picture of how meeting customer expectations and Innovize profitability are linked through a robust quotation process.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience with Epicor, preferred.
  • Previous experience with estimating cost, preferred.

  • Accountable for first cut estimate accuracy and critical estimate incorrections.
  • Accountable for completing required training for position on time and continuous learning and development opportunities.

Evidence of Success:

  • Historical experience with detailed, accurate, well thought-out, and complete estimates based on the information available and has been able to clearly detail assumptions made and why.
  • Historical experience producing detailed, accurate and easy to understand work instructions for the shop floor to accompany completed estimates and able to give examples of writing skills.
