Job description

Design Systems, Inc. is looking for a motivated and hands-on Automation Engineer to help design, build, and launch innovative automation solutions for modern manufacturing. If you enjoy working with robotics, controls, and production systems-and like seeing your work come to life on the plant floor-we'd love to meet you.

This role blends design, programming, and on-site support to deliver reliable, safe, and high-performing automation systems for our customers.

What You'll Do
  • Design and develop automation solutions for manufacturing equipment and production lines.

  • Define and implement applications including material handling, assembly, welding, and palletizing.

  • Support installations with layout validation, field issue resolution, and coordination with electrical and mechanical contractors.

  • Troubleshoot robotics, controls, and electrical systems during installation and startup.

  • Work closely with manufacturing, maintenance, and operations teams to meet cycle time, quality, safety, and reliability targets.

  • Support startup, commissioning, and production ramp-up in active manufacturing environments.

  • Travel as needed to support customer and project requirements.

What You Bring
  • Experience with industrial robotics application design, programming, and commissioning.

  • PLC programming and troubleshooting using Siemens and/or Rockwell (Allen-Bradley) platforms.

  • Understanding of robotic work cells, including tooling, end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), and material handling devices.

  • Hands-on installation support experience including layout validation and contractor coordination.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across robotics, controls, and electrical systems.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams such as manufacturing, maintenance, and vendors.

  • Comfort working on-site in production environments and supporting system startups.

Why Design Systems, Inc.
  • Work on real-world automation challenges with visible impact.

  • Collaborate with experienced engineers and operations teams.

  • Be part of projects from concept through production.

  • Enjoy a culture that values problem-solving, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
