Job description

Position Summary

This position is responsible for supporting the client’s R&D efforts for inkjet hardware technology development. This position will develop scalable software test applications, firmware solutions, and assist with target hardware design and integration. This position will collaborate with other engineering teams to provide testing solutions for the electro-mechanical systems used in inkjet printing products in R&D lab and mass production environments.

Responsibilities

  • Support software and hardware integration, validation, and debugging efforts across innovative embedded system projects (inkjet hardware technologies)
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to

o   Design new embedded systems using off the shelf microcontrollers and/or ASICs

o   Develop new test application features such as increased test coverage and test reporting options across next generation inkjet hardware technology development projects

o   Assist in developing and qualifying test platforms used in proto lab and mass production environments including legacy inkjet test solution support

  • Identify problem areas, drive issues to closure, ensure solid root cause understanding, and report learnings to senior management

o   Investigate, plan, develop, integrate, test, deploy, and document per milestone commitment

  • Occasionally work 40+ hours in a week to meet certain team milestones
  • Perform other duties as needed

Education and Credential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field; Preferred Master’s degree
  • Eligible to work in the US without RLA sponsorship for employment visa status

Experience Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of experience in an embedded systems engineer role
  • Experience specifying, designing, building/integrating, and validating proof-of-concept prototypes which use standard serial comms e.g., I2C, SPI, USB, etc.
  • Experience developing/modifying Windows based test applications in C, C++, C#, VB, and similar languages
  • Experience making continuous improvements to test applications and firmware (scripts) based on feedback from end users such as engineers, technicians, and line operators
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams across multiple geographical locations

Preferred experience

o   Simulating electronic circuits using tools such as SPICE, PSpice, etc.

o   Use of AI/ML concepts for automated embedded system validation

o   Working with fluidics products/devices e.g., inkjet printers, MEMS/micropumps, etc.

Skills Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently
  • High proficiency using productivity software such as M365 (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams, and SharePoint)
  • Ability to use project/program management principles and methodologies to consistently meet task deadlines, triage changing priorities, and track issues to resolution
  • Ability to collaborate across diverse teams with a customer service mindset

Work Environment

  • The position typically operates in a standard office environment and/or from employee’s home
  • Be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
