How much do infusion jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 7, 2026, the average hourly pay for infusion in the United States is $45.96, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $36.30 and $50.24 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Infusion Nurse, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Infusion Nurse, you need a solid background in intravenous therapy, patient assessment, and medication administration, usually supported by an active RN license and clinical experience. Familiarity with infusion pumps, electronic medical records (EMRs), and certifications such as CRNI (Certified Registered Nurse Infusion) are often required. Attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to reassure and educate patients are standout soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure safe, effective infusion treatments and positive patient experiences in often complex care environments.

What job pays $400,000 a year without a degree?

High-paying jobs that can reach $400,000 annually without a degree often include roles such as experienced sales executives, real estate brokers, or entrepreneurs in certain industries. These positions typically require extensive experience, strong skills, and a proven track record of success rather than formal education credentials.

What is the difference between Infusion vs Pharmacist?

AspectInfusionPharmacist
CredentialsCertification in infusion therapy, nursing licenseDoctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), state licensure
Work EnvironmentHospitals, clinics, infusion centersPharmacies, hospitals, healthcare facilities
Industry UsageAdministering IV medications, patient careDispensing medications, patient counseling

Infusion specialists focus on administering IV therapies and patient care in clinical settings, often requiring nursing credentials. Pharmacists prepare and dispense medications, providing expert drug knowledge. While both roles are integral to patient treatment, infusion roles are more hands-on with IV therapies, whereas pharmacists focus on medication management and counseling.

What are infusion nurses?

Infusion nurses are specialized registered nurses who administer medications and fluids directly into a patient’s bloodstream through intravenous (IV) therapy. They manage all aspects of infusion therapy, including preparing and monitoring IVs, assessing patients for reactions or complications, and educating patients about their treatment. Infusion nurses work in various settings, such as hospitals, outpatient clinics, and patients’ homes, and often collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective care.

What are some common challenges faced by infusion nurses, and how can they be managed on the job?

Infusion nurses often encounter challenges such as managing difficult intravenous (IV) access, ensuring accurate medication administration, and monitoring for adverse reactions during infusions. To address these, infusion nurses should stay updated on best practices for vein assessment, use advanced IV access devices when necessary, and maintain clear communication with patients and the healthcare team. Continuous education, collaboration with pharmacists and physicians, and adherence to safety protocols are essential for minimizing complications and providing high-quality patient care.

Job description

Infusion Nurse - Full Time

Syracuse, New York, United States

See Your Work In A New Light

At LUX Infusion, we're reimagining infusion care to be more human, supportive, and connected. Inspired by lux —meaning light—we guide patients, providers, and partners through complex therapies with clarity, compassion, and confidence.

As a clinician-led, U.S.-based organization, we put people first - helping patients feel seen and supported through faster therapy starts, dedicated care coordination, and meaningful collaboration. Our commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and advancement (IDEA) is central to our culture, ensuring every team member feels valued and empowered to make a difference.

We're looking for a Full‑Time Home Infusion Registered Nurse who wants their work to mean something — someone who brings clinical expertise, compassion, and accountability to every patient interaction.

Why This Role Matters

This role plays an important part in helping LUX Infusion deliver a patient‑first experience by providing high‑quality infusion care directly in patients' homes.

In this role, you'll contribute to work that:

  • Helps patients feel safe, supported, and confident receiving infusion therapy at home
  • Supports physicians, caregivers, and internal teams through clear communication and dependable clinical coordination
  • Ensures continuity of care for patients managing complex therapies beyond traditional clinical settings

Everything we do connects back to real people navigating complex healthcare journeys — and this role helps bring expert care, comfort, and reassurance into the home.

Role Details

Schedule: Monday through Friday between 8:30am and 5:00pm Eastern Standard Time

Location: LUX Infusion Pharmacy is seeking a Full‑Time Infusion Nurse to see patients in their homes in Syracuse, NY. Work location is subject to change based on business needs.

On‑Call Requirement: Participation in the on‑call rotation is required. It is anticipated that an incumbent in this role would be on‑call approximately once every eight (8) weeks, covering two (2) weekdays per month and one (1) weekend.

What You'll Do

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide direct home infusion nursing care by inserting, monitoring, and removing IVs and administering prescribed medications, blood products, and nutrition
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions, obtain vital signs, complete physical assessments and reviews of systems, and document all patient‑related activities
  • Perform venipuncture and manage venous access, including peripheral IVs and central lines (PICC, port, midline)
  • Teach patients and caregivers how to safely perform and monitor home infusion therapy
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nursing coordinators, directors of nursing, agencies, and internal care teams
  • Coordinate start‑of‑care and ongoing visits, confirm schedules, and communicate updates across care partners
  • Complete, review, and submit nursing notes, therapy administration reports, care plans, and progress documentation
  • Communicate patient status changes, issues, or reportable events promptly to referring providers and internal teams
  • Maintain compliance with all federal and state regulations, privacy requirements, and ethical standards
  • Participate in staffing coordination and scheduling while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
  • Drive within the state to patient residences and assigned care locations
  • Bring reliability, strong clinical judgment, and attention to detail to independent work in home settings
What We're Looking For

You may be a great fit if you bring:

  • Deep care about patient outcomes and the home‑based care experience
  • A current RN license in New York and at least two years of RN experience
  • IV certification and experience with central line care and management
  • Strong medical‑surgical, phlebotomy, and venous access knowledge
  • Confidence working independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent assessment, documentation, organizational, and multitasking skills
  • Clear, compassionate communication with patients, caregivers, and providers
  • Comfort managing high‑acuity or stressful situations in the home environment
  • Willingness to travel locally to patient residences and healthcare facilities
  • A commitment to accountability, service excellence, and patient‑first care

You don't need to check every box — we care just as much about how you care for patients as your credentials.

Why LUX Infusion

At LUX Infusion, we believe infusion care deserves more light — more warmth, more clarity, and more connection.

Here, you'll find:

  • Purpose‑driven work delivering meaningful care where patients live
  • A patient‑first, clinician‑led culture grounded in trust and empathy
  • Supportive leadership and collaborative care teams
  • Full‑time stability with additional incentives, including a sign‑on bonus

Come help us elevate infusion care — and see what's possible when care comes first, at home.
