How much do infusion jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 7, 2026, the average hourly pay for infusion in the United States is $45.96, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $36.30 and $50.24 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Infusion Nurse, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Infusion Nurse, you need a solid background in intravenous therapy, patient assessment, and medication administration, usually supported by an active RN license and clinical experience. Familiarity with infusion pumps, electronic medical records (EMRs), and certifications such as CRNI (Certified Registered Nurse Infusion) are often required. Attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to reassure and educate patients are standout soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure safe, effective infusion treatments and positive patient experiences in often complex care environments.

What job pays $400,000 a year without a degree?

High-paying jobs that can reach $400,000 annually without a degree often include roles such as experienced sales executives, real estate brokers, or entrepreneurs in certain industries. These positions typically require extensive experience, strong skills, and a proven track record of success rather than formal education credentials.

What is the difference between Infusion vs Pharmacist?

AspectInfusionPharmacist
CredentialsCertification in infusion therapy, nursing licenseDoctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), state licensure
Work EnvironmentHospitals, clinics, infusion centersPharmacies, hospitals, healthcare facilities
Industry UsageAdministering IV medications, patient careDispensing medications, patient counseling

Infusion specialists focus on administering IV therapies and patient care in clinical settings, often requiring nursing credentials. Pharmacists prepare and dispense medications, providing expert drug knowledge. While both roles are integral to patient treatment, infusion roles are more hands-on with IV therapies, whereas pharmacists focus on medication management and counseling.

What are infusion nurses?

Infusion nurses are specialized registered nurses who administer medications and fluids directly into a patient’s bloodstream through intravenous (IV) therapy. They manage all aspects of infusion therapy, including preparing and monitoring IVs, assessing patients for reactions or complications, and educating patients about their treatment. Infusion nurses work in various settings, such as hospitals, outpatient clinics, and patients’ homes, and often collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective care.

What are some common challenges faced by infusion nurses, and how can they be managed on the job?

Infusion nurses often encounter challenges such as managing difficult intravenous (IV) access, ensuring accurate medication administration, and monitoring for adverse reactions during infusions. To address these, infusion nurses should stay updated on best practices for vein assessment, use advanced IV access devices when necessary, and maintain clear communication with patients and the healthcare team. Continuous education, collaboration with pharmacists and physicians, and adherence to safety protocols are essential for minimizing complications and providing high-quality patient care.

Job description

We're looking to connect with Per Diem Home Infusion Nurses who want their work to mean something - Registered Nurses who bring clinical expertise, independence, and compassion to every visit.

Why This Role Matters

Home infusion nursing requires skill, judgment, and trust. As a Per Diem Home Infusion Nurse at LUX Infusion, you are often the primary clinical presence in a patient's care - delivering therapy, education, and reassurance.

In this role, you'll contribute to work that:

  • Helps patients receive infusion therapies safely at home or in infusion suites
  • Supports continuity of care outside traditional clinical settings
  • Builds confidence for patients and caregivers through clear education and calm communication
  • Advances a patientfirst, clinicianled approach to infusion care

Your work ensures patients can continue treatment with dignity, safety, and peace of mind.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Administer, monitor, and discontinue intravenous therapies in patient homes or infusion suite settings
  • Insert and manage IV access including peripheral lines, PICC lines, ports, and midlines
  • Monitor patients throughout infusion therapy, recognizing and responding to adverse reactions or changes in condition
  • Perform venipuncture and collect blood samples as ordered
  • Complete patient assessments, vital signs, and reviews of systems during each visit
  • Provide individualized education to patients and caregivers on infusion therapy, line care, and symptom monitoring
  • Coordinate visit schedules, staffing needs, and communication with internal teams and external partners
  • Accurately document all patientrelated care, medications administered, and patient responses
  • Communicate clinical concerns or reportable events promptly to physicians and internal clinical leadership
  • Uphold all confidentiality, compliance, and ethical standards in accordance with state and federal regulations

What We're Looking For

You may be a great fit if you bring:

  • Strong clinical judgment and confidence working independently in homebased environments
  • Clear, compassionate communication with patients and caregivers
  • Comfort managing IV therapy outside acute care settings
  • Strong organization, flexibility, and attention to detail
  • A patientcentered mindset grounded in empathy and professionalism

Required Qualifications

  • Nursing degree from an accredited college or university
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida
  • Minimum of two (2) years of RN experience
  • IV certification with experience in central line care and management
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel within service territory
  • CPR certification
  • Experience with clinical documentation and care coordination
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and clinical systems
  • Willingness to travel to patient homes and healthcare facilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • RN licensure in additional states
  • Prior experience in home infusion, home care, critical care, emergency nursing, ambulatory infusion centers, or discharge planning
  • Experience with PICC, port, or midline access and certification

You don't need to check every box - we care just as much about how you care for patients as your background.

Here, you'll find:
