We are looking for a results-driven Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, and successful completion of water and wastewater construction projects. This role will oversee project performance from pre-construction through closeout, while leading project teams, managing client relationships, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements and company standards.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES- Manage the full project lifecycle for water and wastewater construction projects, from pre-construction through final completion and closeout, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
- Develop, maintain, and manage project schedules, including critical path activities, milestones, and recovery strategies to proactively address potential delays.
- Monitor project budgets, cost performance, and forecasts while identifying opportunities for value engineering, cost savings, and improved project efficiency.
- Lead coordination and communication with owners, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, regulatory agencies, and internal project teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Review and interpret contracts, plans, specifications, and project requirements to ensure compliance with scope, quality standards, applicable regulations, and contractual obligations.
- Proactively identify, evaluate, and resolve construction, design, procurement, and coordination challenges to maintain project progress and minimize impacts to cost and schedule.
- Lead, support, and mentor project teams, including Project Engineers, Superintendents, Foremen, and field personnel, to promote accountability, collaboration, and successful project execution.
- Coordinate the effective allocation of labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor resources to meet project requirements, schedule commitments, and budget objectives.
- Collaborate with Estimating and Preconstruction teams to develop competitive bids, review project requirements, and support successful project transitions from estimating through construction.
- Promote and enforce Haydonβs safety culture, policies, and OSHA requirements across all project activities and job sites, working closely with Superintendents and the Safety team to address risks and maintain a safe work environment.
- Establish and maintain project quality expectations, ensuring construction activities comply with contract documents, plans, specifications, applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, and Haydonβs quality standards.
- Coordinate with project teams, owners, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors to proactively identify and resolve safety and quality issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage and monitor project financial performance, including budgets, cost projections, commitments, change orders, billing, and progress payments to ensure projects remain financially successful.
- Oversee the preparation, review, and timely submission of key project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change order documentation, pay applications, meeting records, and closeout requirements.
- Maintain strong relationships with owners, engineers, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders through clear communication, regular project updates, and proactive issue resolution.
- Provide accurate financial and project status reporting to leadership, identifying potential risks, cost impacts, and schedule concerns before they affect project performance.
- Bachelorβs degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and relevant construction experience may be considered.
- 5+ years of project management experience in water and wastewater, heavy civil, utility, municipal, or infrastructure construction.
- Strong knowledge of construction scheduling and project management software, including Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Procore, Viewpoint, or similar platforms, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and multiple priorities while meeting project deadlines and client expectations.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of applicable construction regulations, permitting requirements, environmental compliance, and municipal or agency requirements related to water and wastewater projects.
- Experience managing water and wastewater construction projects, including treatment facilities, pump stations, lift stations, large-diameter pipelines, underground utilities, or municipal infrastructure.
- PMP certification or other recognized construction/project management credentials is preferred.
- Experience using construction management and project controls software such as Bluebeam, Procore, Primavera P6, Viewpoint, HCSS, or similar platforms.
- Experience working with municipal owners, engineers, regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and other stakeholders on complex infrastructure projects is a plus.
- Office working environment with occasional travel to job sites
- Frequent use of telephone, computer, email, and other electronic devices to communicate with internal and external clients, trade partners, or vendors.
- Lift, push or pull objects up to 25 pounds.
- Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of shift/work day.
- Ability to wear required PPE on job sites.
- Job site visits require ability to maneuver around uneven terrain, large equipment, stairs.
