Job description

Position Summary

The AI Project Manager – Platform Owner is a senior individual contributor responsible for the end-to-end ownership and delivery of the company's AI project portfolio. This role serves as the central hub for all AI initiatives, from enterprise agents and AI-coded applications to consumer-facing intelligent experiences. The Platform Owner ensures every project is tracked, resourced, and delivered on time by managing milestones, coordinating cross-functional teams, and maintaining deep product knowledge across the full suite of AI solutions under development. This person will operate at the intersection of program management, product ownership, and technical coordination—driving clarity across a fast-moving environment where multiple AI agents, applications, and integrations are being built simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

AI Portfolio & Platform Ownership

  • Own the master roadmap for all AI projects, including internal enterprise agents (IT Support, Mechanic/Service, HR, Finance) and consumer-facing AI experiences (shopping, service, trade-in).
  • Serve as the single point of accountability for project status, risks, dependencies, and delivery timelines across the entire AI portfolio.
  • Maintain a living inventory of all AI-coded applications, their technology stacks, deployment environments, and current lifecycle stage.
  • Ensure alignment between the AI roadmap and broader enterprise technology strategy.

Project Delivery & Execution

  • Define and manage project plans with clear milestones, deliverables, acceptance criteria, and resource assignments for each AI initiative.
  • Run structured cadences: sprint planning, stand-ups, milestone reviews, stakeholder demos, and retrospectives.
  • Track and elevate blockers, manage inter-team dependencies, and coordinate with internal teams and vendor partners to keep projects on schedule.
  • Manage project documentation including BRDs, TRDs, architecture decision records, and deployment runbooks.

Product Knowledge & Technical Fluency

  • Develop and maintain deep understanding of each AI product: its purpose, user personas, data sources, integration points, and success metrics.
  • Understand the underlying technology stack (GCP/Vertex AI, Snowflake, Gemini, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL) well enough to facilitate technical conversations and identify risks.
  • Stay current on AI agent frameworks, LLM capabilities, prompt engineering, and vibe coding methodologies used by the development team.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear executive summaries for senior leadership.

Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination

  • Serve as the primary liaison between AI engineering, infrastructure, data, security, and business stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors, ensuring SOW deliverables align with internal milestones.
  • Prepare and present project status reports, risk assessments, and resource forecasts to VP/SVP-level leadership.
  • Facilitate prioritization decisions when competing demands arise across the AI portfolio.

Governance & Quality

  • Establish and enforce project management standards, templates, and tooling for the AI program (Jira, Confluence, or equivalent).
  • Ensure all AI applications undergo proper code review, security assessment, and compliance checks before deployment.
  • Track KPIs and success metrics for deployed AI solutions and report on business impact.
  • Champion prompt injection testing, AI security reviews, and responsible AI practices across all projects.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of project or program management experience in technology-driven environments, with at least 3 years focused on AI, ML, or data-intensive programs.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a portfolio of 10+ concurrent projects with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of modern AI/ML concepts: large language models, AI agents, RAG architectures, prompt engineering, and model deployment pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with project management tools (Jira, Asana, Monday.com, or similar) and documentation platforms (Confluence, Notion).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to executive audiences.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and understanding of CI/CD, containerization, and DevOps practices.
  • PMP, PgMP, CSM, or SAFe certification preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in retail, automotive, or dealership technology environments.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake, BigQuery, Vertex AI, or similar enterprise data and AI platforms.
  • Background in product ownership or product management alongside project management.
  • Experience managing vendor SOWs, offshore development teams, and contractor engagements.
  • Understanding of enterprise security frameworks, SOX compliance, and AI governance standards

Full-time employment only. No C2C (corp-to-corp) arrangements.
