As an Infrastructure Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platforms and Databases, you utilize strong knowledge of software, applications, and technical processes within the infrastructure engineering discipline. Within Infrastructure Platform group, we look first and foremost for people who are passionate about solving business problems through innovation & engineering practices.  This opportunity is for a Microsoft SQL Server Database engineer, to join a dynamic agile team that owns and develops the database solutions to scale. Our product forms a crucial component of our industry's leading development environment and faces an ever-increasing demand as our technology organization continues to grow and JP Morgan develops an increasingly diverse range of modern digital products.  A key objective of the successful candidate is to expand the existing platform from JPMC's private cloud into other public cloud providers. All roles in Platform Services are expected to continuously collaborate across all database product offerings.
Job responsibilities

  • Applies technical knowledge and problem-solving methodologies to projects of moderate scope, with a focus on improving data and systems running at scale, and ensures end-to-end monitoring of applications.
  • Uses enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to accelerate monitoring and capacity analysis and documentation, validating outputs and handling operational data according to sensitivity and security requirements.
  • Resolves most nuances and determines appropriate escalation path.
  • Executes conventional approaches to build or break down technical problems while considering upstream and downstream data and systems or technical implications.
  • Drives the daily activities supporting the standard capacity process applications and partners with application and infrastructure teams to identify potential capacity risks and govern remediation statuses.
  • Accountable for making significant decisions for a project consisting of multiple technologies and applications.
  • Applies reuse-first, AI-assisted approaches to identify recurring capacity risks and improve remediation workflows, ensuring changes are validated and aligned to resiliency and security expectations.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative and diverse environment.
  • Optimism and adaptability when faced with challenges and complex situations, coupled with the drive to solve complex problems and continuously optimize processes.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training or certification on infrastructure engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience.
  • Experience working in relational databases like Microsoft SQL Server or any other RDBMS.
  • Experience in database design and development. Writing T-SQL code and various database objects like Stored Procs, Views etc. 
  • Demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to support infrastructure engineering workflows with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity.
  • Ability to review and validate AI-assisted recommendations before implementation, escalating when uncertain and ensuring outcomes align to resiliency, security, and auditability expectations. 
  • Working experience for ETL tools (like SSIS), Reporting tools (like SSRS) and Analytic tools (like SSAS).
  • Experience working on overall database management system including performance tuning, security.
  • Ability to dive into complex problems to troubleshoot and implement functional solutions.
  • Provide technical expertise throughout the software lifecycle including design, implementation, and delivery.
  • Understanding cloud, virtualization, APIs, and modern software languages.
  • Experience working with two or more from the following: database, Windows/Unix/Linux environments, large scale software development, security software development.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Desired proficiency in Python, Django Rest Framework, Ansible, JavaScript, Linux, Shell Scripting, Rest APIs. 
  • Experience with developing frameworks that help increase developer efficiency, release velocity, code health and technical standards.
  • Strong knowledge of one or more scripting languages.
  • Experience with multiple cloud technologies (ability to operate in and migrate across public and private clouds).
  • Understanding or having experience with agile and lean philosophies.
  • Experience with Git or other VCS.
  • Ability to collaborate with different roles to achieve common goals.
