THE POSITION:
STACK is seeking a strategic, high judgement and collaborative Director of Public Relations to support initiatives that advance STACK's brand, reputation, and industry leadership across North America (with selective global coordination).
This role will support media relations, crisis communications, corporate messaging, and reputation management initiatives that support STACK's continued growth as a leading digital infrastructure provider.
The ideal candidate combines strong communications expertise with experience navigating complex stakeholder environments and translating highly technical infrastructure topics into compelling narratives for business, technology, and public audiences. This candidate is able to blend strategic judgment, hands-on media craft, and proven experience guiding communications for complex, highly regulated, or contract-bound businesses.
The Director of Public Relations will support a selective, process-driven media posture (no blanket defaults), drive message discipline on responsible growth, and drive measurable results (SOV, sentiment, message pull-through, inbound SLAs) while safeguarding confidentiality and trust. This team member will also work with Marketing, Public Policy, Operations, Legal, and external agency partners to develop and implement public relations initiatives that strengthen STACK's position in the market and reinforce trust with clients, media, industry partners, and local stakeholders.
This position is based in Denver and requires periodic travel to regional markets and industry events. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Public Relations & Media Relations (Selective, Case-by-Case)
  • Develop and implement comprehensive public relations strategies that elevate STACK's brand awareness, reputation, and industry leadership
  • Lead proactive and reactive media relations efforts across trade, technology, business, infrastructure, and regional media outlets
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, analysts, industry influencers, and communications partners
  • Identify newsworthy company developments and drive earned media opportunities that support business objectives
  • Draft and manage press releases, executive messaging, talking points, speeches, op-eds, briefing materials, and media statements
  • Support product, market expansion, sustainability, client, and corporate announcement strategies
  • Monitor and triage in-bound media requests
Corporate Communications & Reputation Management
  • Lead reputation management initiatives that reinforce STACK's position as a trusted leader in digital infrastructure
  • Develop communications strategies that translate complex technical infrastructure topics into clear and compelling storytelling
  • Partner with subject matter experts to develop strategic messaging platforms and narrative frameworks
  • Monitor media coverage, industry trends, public sentiment, and emerging issues that may impact the company
  • Lead crisis communications planning and response efforts related to operational, reputational, or industry events
  • Develop internal briefing materials and executive communications related to sensitive or high-profile topics
  • Collaborate with Marketing team to align external messaging across channels
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Manage agency relationships, PR consultants, and external communications vendors as needed
  • Establish KPIs and reporting frameworks to measure media impact, share of voice, and communications effectiveness
  • Maintain consistency in brand voice, messaging, and external positioning across all communications channels

MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related discipline preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, or media relations
  • Significant experience leading strategic communications and executive visibility initiatives
  • Proven ability to work in a highly regulated, matrixed environment
  • Experience managing multiple media relations and earned media campaigns
  • Strong understanding of reputation management and crisis communications
  • Experience within infrastructure, technology, telecommunications, real estate, energy, or data center industries preferred
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Proven ability to build relationships with executives, media, industry partners, and cross-functional teams
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and fast-moving projects simultaneously

Compensation Range:
$171,190.00 - $189,846.00
