Description


The Vice President, Asset Management - Sponsor Loans position is responsible for overseeing the ongoing servicing and asset management of a portfolio of loans to select real estate owners and developers, ensuring compliance with loan terms and regulations. This position's focus will be split between internal and external stakeholders with responsibilities that may cross platforms and departments and will include managerial oversight of a small team.


Success in this position will be comprised of leading, managing and developing the team, proactively monitoring and managing the ongoing risks in the portfolio, effectively communicating with stakeholders, and enhancing existing policies, procedures and tools. 


Requirements

  • Manage borrower relationships on a portfolio of secured and unsecured loans utilized for a variety of uses including but not limited to acquisition, pre-development and working capital needs.
  • Work with asset manager and analyst to setup and maintain detailed loan files to ensure adequate tracking of funding requirements, disbursements and repayments.
  • Monitor sufficiency of a variety of collateral structures including but not limited to pledges of ownership, cash flow, developer fee and business assets. 
  • Ensure timely, accurate completion of quarterly financial analysis, loan grading and covenant testing. 
  • Conduct credit analysis for loan extensions and modifications, analyzing historical and anticipated usage and repayment projections as well as collateral adequacy and clearly articulate main risks and mitigants to the transaction. 
  • Participate in Loan Review Memo presentation calls for new deals to ensure clear understanding of the expectations for AM once the deal closes. 
  • Involvement in ongoing evaluation of sufficiency of risk rating methodology to ensure grading metrics are appropriate across various lending structures. 
  • Key point person as team grows, with input on development of team infrastructure, technology platforms, policies/procedures and staffing plans.
  • Escalate issues on deals through the monthly Escalation Meeting and present issues to Credit Committee and executive management team.
  • Assist with determining best practices for a growing product offering and provide feedback on resource and technology needs. 
  • Collaborate with other departments within the company including a timely feedback loop to underwriting, originations, legal and closing on deal specific and common theme issues and "lessons learned".
  • Lead special projects upon request.


Expected Experience, Skills and Education:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience. 
  • Prior asset management or underwriting experience required.
  • Requires an organized, detailed-oriented approach to work balance with a personable demeanor effective at delivering high-quality customer experience.
  • Problem-solving skills with a self-start mentality that responds well to work pressure and urgent deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to actively listen and respond appropriately. 
  • Encourages strategic, creative thinking with experience overseeing the process of interpreting data and analysis to support the development of new and innovative applications to managing risk.
  • Requires a minimum of a Bachelors in finance, accounting, real estate or related field.
