Job description

WAN Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Individual is responsible for the development, design and implementation of remote office infrastructure, in order to support VoIP/Voice, Video and Data services.

Individual is responsible for the development, design and implementation of remote office infrastructure, in order to support VoIP/Voice, Video and Data services. This includes developing cost estimates/quotes, floor plans/as builds, and IT closet/rack/cabinet design and site inspections on completion of each project.

Each project will require the development of a statement of work for each vendor contracted to perform work. Upon completion of each remote office infrastructure all documentation must be electronically stored on IOT servers according to team standards. The position requires the person to perform extensive data gathering that will assist the individual in determining the scope of work. The data gathering consists of marking floor plans, getting station counts, station location and phone system sizing. The position is also responsible for designing, quoting and coordinating implementation of all data and voice cable infrastructure for each agency office statewide.

This person is responsible for coordinating and managing service repair of all state telephony systems and telco services from start to finish during normal business hours and is required to be available during non-business hours as dictated by the group on call calendar. This person routinely assists in coordinating other IOT team members, such as, network, IP Voice, server and desktop teams, during new office buildouts or relocations. This individual is responsible for infrastructure inspections and final systems acceptance. In addition, final audit of vendor invoicing to ensure accurate billing is passed on to the customer agency. The individual is required to meet regularly with management to provide project status updates and discuss current and future projects. Excellent customer service is the number one goal.

This person is also responsible for backing up the WAN Infrastructure Services Manager when out of the office or on vacation regarding carrier projects and agency requests.
