What are Information Interns?

Information Interns are individuals, often students or recent graduates, who assist organizations with tasks related to information management, research, data collection, or library services. These internships provide hands-on experience in organizing, analyzing, and distributing information within various industries such as libraries, museums, corporations, or government agencies. Information Interns may also help with database management, digital archiving, and supporting information systems. The role helps interns develop practical skills relevant to information science, data analysis, and digital literacy. Typically, these positions are temporary and designed to offer professional growth and exposure to real-world information management.

What types of projects or tasks can an Information Intern expect to work on during their internship?

You might also be involved in supporting project documentation, preparing presentations, or conducting literature reviews. This role provides a strong foundation for understanding how information is managed and disseminated within an organization, and offers opportunities to collaborate closely with experienced professionals in IT, library science, or knowledge management.

Paid internships typically range from minimum wage to $20 or more, depending on the industry, location, and required skills, making $20 an hour a competitive rate for entry-level or technical roles. However, the value also depends on the internship's responsibilities, learning opportunities, and whether it offers other benefits such as networking or skill development.
