They may help with data collection, analyzing infection trends, participating in staff education, and supporting infection prevention initiatives. This internship provides valuable hands-on experience in healthcare safety, epidemiology, and public health practices. The position is ideal for those interested in pursuing a career in infection control, nursing, public health, or related fields.

As an Infection Control Intern, you can anticipate involvement in a variety of projects such as assisting with hospital surveillance activities, analyzing infection data, supporting outbreak investigations, and helping to develop educational materials for staff. Interns often work closely with infection preventionists, nurses, and epidemiologists, gaining hands-on experience with both administrative tasks and fieldwork. This role typically offers exposure to committee meetings, policy reviews, and compliance audits, providing a comprehensive view of infection prevention practices. The experience gained can be a strong foundation for future roles in public health or healthcare quality management.
