Job Summary
As an Industrial Designer, you will play a supporting role in shaping the future of our product lines and contributing to our mission of enhancing everyday living. You'll assist in developing the next generation of small kitchen, garment, and personal care appliances for some of the most recognized brands in the world, including Black+Decker, Remington, Russell Hobbs, PowerXL, George Foreman, Emeril Lagasse and more. Our Home and Personal Care division is at the forefront of innovation, designing and manufacturing cutting-edge appliances that make life easier and more enjoyable for our customers.
As an Industrial Designer at Spectrum Brands' Home and Personal Care division, you will be a part of our product development team. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create innovative and aesthetically pleasing appliances that meet user needs, market demands, and brand strategies. Your creativity and design skills will drive the success of our products in the competitive home appliance market.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Industrial Design: Support design and development of innovative, user-friendly, and aesthetically appealing small appliances, considering user experience, functionality, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Conceptualization: Create and present concept sketches, mood boards, and renderings to communicate design ideas effectively.
  • 3D Modeling and CAD: Use industry-standard software (SolidWorks or Fusion360) to create 3D models and detailed CAD drawings for prototypes and production.
  • Materials and Manufacturing: Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes, ensuring cost-effective and efficient production.
  • Prototyping: Participate in the development of prototypes to test and refine designs, making necessary adjustments based on feedback.
  • User-Centered Design: Conduct user research, usability testing, and incorporate user feedback to improve product design and functionality.
  • Trends and Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, competitor products, and consumer preferences to drive design innovation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketers, project managers, and engineers in multiple time zones to ensure successful product development and launch.

Education and Experience Profile
  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design (BA or BS)
  • A portfolio demonstrating the ability to transform user insights into great product solutions
  • Strong sketching and visualization skills
  • Proficiency in design software such as Solidworks or Fusion360, Keyshot and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with consumer products a plus
  • Role not eligible for sponsorship
