Job description

Overview

This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.

In this role, you will lead an organization of Industrial Engineers and Production Control Analysts based in Wichita, KS managing the daily metrics and future planning of 737 Fuselage production. You will report to the Senior IE manager of 737 Production Engineering and partner with other functional leaders in the business unit (e.g. Operations, Quality) to increase production stability and achieve organizational goals.


Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of Industrial Engineers and Production Control Analysts, driving performance, accountability, and career growth.
  • Manage production planning, capacity analysis, and scheduling to support program objectives and production stability.
  • Drive industrial engineering strategies focused on process optimization, line balancing, standard work, and efficient product flow.
  • Provide technical oversight for IE methods, analyses, and implementation of process improvements and future-state manufacturing solutions.
  • Monitor and improve utilization of labor, tooling, equipment, and facilities while supporting rate readiness and recovery planning.
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Program leadership to align priorities and deliver operational results.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related field
  • 4 or more years of experience in Industrial Engineering or Operations within a manufacturing or aerospace environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence across functional teams
  • Experience leading projects with continuous improvement focus
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 or more years of experience in a formal people leadership role
  • Demonstrated use of structured problem-solving methodologies
  • Experience managing teams of 10 or more direct reports
  • Proven ability to drive process improvements and operational results through employee engagement

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary Pay Range: $105,300 - $161,450
