Lead Projects That Drive Operational Excellence
Are you an engineer who enjoys taking ownership of projects and seeing them through from concept to completion?
Do you thrive in a manufacturing environment where every project has a direct impact on safety, efficiency, and business performance?
We're looking for a Project Engineer / Project Manager to lead capital and engineering projects at our Spruance manufacturing facility in Richmond, VA. In this role, you'll be responsible for managing projects from initiation through startup, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards.
This is an individual contributor role that offers significant ownership and visibility. You'll work closely with operations, engineering, EHS, procurement, and external partners to deliver projects that improve our facility and support future growth.
Who We Are
You can find Arclin everywhere. Our technologies make homes and transportation safer, help crops flourish, keep water clean, protect first responders and members of the military, and preserve the purity of essential pharmaceuticals. These vital, everyday products can't fail, and we're here to give the world an extra layer of performance and peace of mind. With ~4,000 team members across more than 30 global manufacturing facilities, we operate with the scale to make a global impact and the agility to solve complex challenges at the molecular level. Rooted in scientific discovery and innovation, Arclin's materials redefine performance across industries - from Firepoint®'s patented intumescent technology that helps stall flames and save lives to the iconic Kevlar® and Nomex® brands trusted to protect those who serve, strengthen aerospace and industrial systems, and perform where reliability and safety are top of mind. As we expand our mission-critical materials portfolio and shape the next era of performance technologies, we're looking for people who want to grow, lead, and solve the challenges others can't. Together, we'll advance the innovations that keep the world moving. Because at Arclin, our people are truly Vital Beyond Measure.
What You'll Do
As our Project Engineer / Project Manager, you will:
  • Lead capital and engineering projects from concept, planning, and design through construction, startup, and closeout.
  • Own project scope, schedule, budget, safety, and technical performance to ensure successful execution.
  • Develop detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource requirements.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, contractors, engineering firms, and vendors to keep projects moving forward.
  • Apply sound engineering principles to evaluate designs and ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Identify project risks early and develop practical mitigation strategies to minimize delays and cost impacts.
  • Manage project budgets, capital spending, change control, and financial reporting.
  • Communicate project progress, milestones, risks, and recommendations to leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Maintain complete project documentation, including engineering drawings, reports, and regulatory compliance records.
  • Partner with operations to ensure successful project startup, turnover, operator training, and documentation of lessons learned.

What You Bring
We're looking for someone who combines strong engineering knowledge with excellent project leadership skills.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • 3-5+ years of experience leading engineering or capital projects in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proven ability to deliver projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to technical specifications.
  • Experience developing project schedules, managing capital budgets, and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of project management tools such as Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, Finario, or similar software.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence teams and drive results without direct supervisory authority.
  • Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.

Why Join Us?
You'll have the opportunity to lead meaningful projects that directly impact our manufacturing operations while working alongside experienced professionals in a collaborative environment.
We value innovation, continuous improvement, and giving our engineers the autonomy to make decisions and deliver results.
If you're looking for a role where you can take ownership, solve complex challenges, and make a lasting impact, we'd love to hear from you.
