Reports To: Director of Individual Giving
Work Status: Full-Time

About the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy:

Our vision: A vibrant park system that is welcoming, accessible, and enjoyed by all.
Our mission: We improve quality of life by enhancing and stewarding Pittsburgh’s parks in partnership with the community.

Position Summary:

The Individual Giving Manager is a frontline, relationship-based fundraiser responsible for managing a portfolio of mid-level donors and prospects, building and deepening meaningful relationships that increase philanthropic support for Pittsburgh's parks. In addition to cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors through personalized engagement strategies, this position leads the Conservancy's annual appeal strategy across direct mail, digital, and online channels, using donor data, segmentation, and campaign performance to strengthen donor acquisition, retention, and upgrading.

Success will be measured through progress toward annual revenue goal and retention rate, donor engagement goals, portfolio activity and movement, and accurate documentation of donor activity in Raiser’s Edge NXT.

Position Duties:

Performs under the general supervision of the Director of Individual Giving and is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

Mid-Level Giving & Portfolio Management

  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 150 mid-level donors and prospects giving $250 - $1,996 annually with responsibility for increasing donor engagement and philanthropic support.
  • Lead a structured qualification process for portfolio.
  • Develop and execute individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for portfolio donors.
  • Personally solicit donors for new, renewed, and increased gifts.
  • Maintain a consistent cadence of meaningful donor contacts, meetings, solicitations, and stewardship activities.
  • Meet annual revenue, retention, upgrade, and portfolio performance goals established in partnership with the Director of Individual Giving.
  • Maintain familiarity with planned giving opportunities and incorporate planned giving conversations into donor relationships when appropriate.
  • Accurately document donor activity, next steps, and outcomes in Raiser’s Edge NXT and participate in regular portfolio review meetings.

Annual Fund & Appeal Management

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive annual giving strategy across direct mail, email, online, and other digital channels.
  • Establish annual goals for donor acquisition, retention, renewal, upgrading, and revenue in collaboration with the Director of Individual Giving.
  • Segment donor audiences and develop strategies and messaging based on giving history, interests, engagement, and donor behavior.
  • Coordinate the development and execution of fundraising appeals and related donor communications in partnership with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Monitor campaign performance and donor trends and use results to continually improve annual giving strategies.
  • Test and evaluate approaches such as messaging, segmentation, timing, and giving channels to improve fundraising performance.
  • Identify opportunities to move annual fund donors into deeper levels of engagement and the mid-level, major gift, and planned giving pipelines.

Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, with at least four years of fundraising experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing donor portfolios and individual giving programs, including annual giving and appeals.
  • Experience with digital and direct-response fundraising.
  • Experience using donor database/CRM systems to track donor activity and portfolio progress. Experience with Raiser’s Edge NXT and Luminate preferred.

Skills and Ability to:

  • Communicate effectively and persuasively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Build strong relationships with donors, colleagues, and community stakeholders.
  • Develop creative, strategic approaches to donor engagement, retention, and upgrading.
  • Manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain strong attention to detail.
  • Exercise sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information.
  • Work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a changing, fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain accurate donor records and consistently document activity and next steps.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Occasional evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required.
  • Occasional local travel to donor meetings, events, and other Conservancy activities will be required.

Compensation & Benefits:
