Description
Procurement Specialist
The Procurement Specialist reports directly to the Director of Procurement and Purchasing in our Irvine Headquarters and performs the monitoring of materials through the production cycle, participates in buying strategies to purchase and arrange timely deliveries of supplies and materials, expedites as needed, and serves as liaison between vendors and users, getting prior approval for purchases in excess of established limits. They also resolve semi-complex delivery, quality, or other related problems with purchases, vendor invoices, and production planning issues.
Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):
  • Champion for Karma Supplier set-up in SAP
  • Owner of Supplier Master records in SAP: ensure effective input of Supplier data, drive consistent improvement in data quality.
  • Complete sourcing and procurement of Indirect Purchases at the best possible price, quality, and delivery terms
  • Establishment and document of procurement policies, procedures, and guidelines to improve procurement efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Review demand plans with plant and production planning to ensure accurate supply strategies.
  • Bring closure to old Scheduling agreements.
  • Assist GSM (Global Sourcing Managers) with sourcing and procurement of goods and services at the best possible price, quality, and delivery terms.
  • Assist with determination of price reasonableness.
  • Assist with evaluating supplier bids, proposals, and quotations to determine the best value for the organization.
  • Assist with monitoring supplier performance to ensure that delivery schedules are met, quality standards are maintained, and contractual obligations are fulfilled.
  • Assist with procurement data analysis and reporting as needed.
  • Maintain delivery status for all open purchase orders and convey information to requestors. Proactively follow-up with supplier and communicate clearly to stakeholders on relevant information.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a role related to purchasing (buyer, sourcing)
  • Strong oral & written communication skills
  • Organizational & time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated strength in negotiations.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong teamwork skills. Able to develop consensus and move the program forward.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Automotive industry experience
  • Demonstrated coaching / leadership related experience.
  • Proficiency working within an ERP system.
  • Knowledge of procurement regulations and best practices

Compensation:
$80,000 - $90,000 /annual salary. Compensation will vary DOE.
