Job description

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Radiological/Nuclear Design Engineer opportunity to support the Savannah River Site.
Work Location: Aiken, SC
Radiological/Nuclear Design Engineer-
The Radiological / Nuclear Design Engineer supports design changes affecting shielding, contamination control, radiological monitoring, access control, and dose reduction features in a radioactive processing environment.
Duties:
  • Perform or support radiological design evaluations for shielding, dose, contamination control, and monitoring impacts.
  • Review design changes for effects on access control, confinement zones, monitoring locations, and ALARA objectives.
  • Coordinate with ventilation, structural, I&C, and process engineering to incorporate radiological design requirements.
  • Support design reviews, hazards reviews, and readiness activities.
  • Recommend design features that improve worker protection and reduce radiological exposure.

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Health Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in nuclear, radiological, or shielding-related engineering work.
  • Knowledge of radiation protection and contamination control fundamentals.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting design changes in radiological or nuclear facilities.
  • Familiarity with ALARA principles and radiation monitoring systems.

Other Job Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
