Job Description:
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer III to support the planning, design, and execution of electrical engineering projects associated with Extended Power Uprate (EPU) initiatives and other capital improvement projects within a nuclear generation environment.
This position provides technical leadership throughout the engineering lifecycle, including design development, engineering reviews, project implementation, and operational support. The successful candidate will serve as a key engineering resource for plant modification projects, ensuring designs meet regulatory requirements, quality standards, and operational objectives while supporting the safe and reliable operation of nuclear generating assets.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead electrical engineering activities in support of nuclear plant capital projects and Extended Power Uprate (EPU) initiatives.
  • Serve as the Responsible Design Engineer (RDE) and/or Owner's Acceptance Reviewer for assigned projects.
  • Develop, review, and approve engineering deliverables, including calculations, specifications, drawings, design change packages, and technical evaluations.
  • Prepare and review engineering scope documents, schedules, project estimates, and implementation plans.
  • Support electrical system design activities involving power distribution systems, switchgear, motor control centers, protective relaying, and associated plant equipment.
  • Ensure engineering products comply with regulatory requirements, quality assurance standards, plant procedures, and applicable industry codes.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers, designers, contractors, and project teams.
  • Support project implementation activities including installation, testing, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and turnover.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Licensing, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, Construction, and Project Management teams to successfully execute projects.
  • Maintain compliance with nuclear safety principles, plant design basis requirements, and configuration management processes.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 6-10 years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting electrical power system design within power generation, utility, industrial, or large-scale infrastructure environments.
  • Direct experience supporting nuclear power plant capital modification projects.
  • Knowledge of engineering design practices, configuration management, and design control processes.
  • Familiarity with applicable electrical codes, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and quality assurance programs.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Extended Power Uprate (EPU) projects or major plant modernization initiatives.
  • Knowledge of NRC regulations, Appendix B Quality Assurance requirements, and nuclear design control processes.
  • Experience with nuclear plant electrical systems, power distribution equipment, switchgear, motor control centers, and protective relaying.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and approving engineering calculations, specifications, drawings, and design packages.
  • Strong project coordination and leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
