Job description

Role Overview

Independent Contractors provide on‐site, phone, and video interpretation for medical, school, legal, and community settings. Translation and transcription opportunities available for qualified linguists.


This is not a remote‐only role.


Key Responsibilities

  • Consecutive interpretation in community settings
  • Simultaneous interpretation if experienced (higher pay)
  • Document translation when qualified
  • Maintain accuracy, neutrality, and professionalism
  • Follow HIPAA and national codes of ethics
  • Submit encounter forms within 24 hours
  • Maintain punctuality and a quiet workspace for remote calls


Compensation

  • $28–$42/hr depending on language & assignment
  • 1‐hour minimum (Spanish) / 1.5‐hour minimum (other languages)
  • Higher rates for legal & simultaneous interpreting
  • Per‐minute pay for phone/video interpreting
  • Additional opportunities: transcription, project management, voice‐over, multilingual video, translation


Requirements

  • 18+ with HS diploma/GED (AA+ preferred)
  • Reliable transportation + computer, camera, headset, smartphone, high‐speed internet
  • 40–64‐hour interpreter training preferred
  • Clean background & DMV record
  • 92–100% bilingual fluency
  • 1+ year professional interpreting experience
  • Language proficiency test result (preferred or required depending on language)
