Job description

The Opportunity

InCharge Energy is seeking a detail-oriented Electric Vehicle Charging Station (EVCS) Technician to enhance our service operations and contribute to our ongoing growth. Service is at the core of our company, supported by cutting-edge software, expert project management, and seamless equipment integration. These elements reinforce our service division, positioning it as a key driver in the company's growth strategy. The EVCS Technician will work within the service operations division, reporting directly to the Field Service Manager. This role presents an exciting opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment and deliver exceptional service, playing a vital role in our mission to support the transition to electric vehicles. You'll also receive a company vehicle to use for work purposes, equipped with GPS tracking for safety and accountability.

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose and repair electrical charging infrastructure with precision using advanced tools and techniques, from computer diagnostics to basic electrical repairs
  • Maintain meticulous records for all repairs and installations and coordinate seamlessly with third parties/vendors to ensure flawless project execution
  • Ensure all services and projects are completed on time, within scope, and budget, with a keen focus on resource allocation and client satisfaction
  • Proactively offer clients additional services, including service agreements, preventative maintenance plans, InControl monitoring software, and other revenue-generating items. Create warm leads for the sales team to explore opportunities for selling additional EV chargers and ask for referrals to expand our customer base
  • Provide and maintain your own basic hand tools required for performing work on EV chargers
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Maintain a high standard of safety practices while working with high voltage and in various environmental conditions
  • Track charging infrastructure performance, provide detailed progress reports, and escalate issues to management as needed
  • Uphold the highest standards of professionalism at client sites and foster strong relationships with third parties/vendors
  • Continue developing your expertise through ongoing training and certifications provided by InCharge Energy.

Your Experience and Capabilities

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in electrical, EV, or a related client-facing role
  • Associate's degree or certification in a relevant technical field
  • Journeyman's license or higher, or formal electrical training, is strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of electric vehicle charging systems, electric vehicle technology, and electrical systems
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues effectively
  • Self-starter with a proactive attitude and adaptability to start-up environments
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Valid driver's license, with a clean driving record and ability to travel 75%+ within your assigned territory and nearby regions; occasional travel across the U.S. may be required

Physical and Environmental Demands

  • Include but are not limited to: lifting, bending, climbing, kneeling, reaching, sitting, standing, working from ladders, walking, working in extreme temperatures (cold/heat), confined quarters, excessive noise, and high voltage
  • Must be comfortable independently operating a vehicle for extended periods and flying domestically for work-related travel

  • Must provide and maintain your own set of hand tools necessary to perform the duties of the role
  • Flexibility to work occasional overtime or adjusted hours to support service schedules and customer needs
  • Must maintain a clean driving record and comply with all company vehicle and safety policies
