Job Summary:

The Manager - Logistics will lead end-to-end logistics with a primary focus on outbound execution and special load management, while establishing a scalable inbound logistics model anchored by a 3PL strategy. This role is critical to enabling 5X growth in a private equity-backed environment by building robust, cost-efficient, and highly reliable logistics capabilities across both inbound and outbound flows.

The role requires strong expertise in engineered-to-order shipments, oversized freight, and the design of a 3PL-enabled inbound network that improves material flow, reduces working capital, and supports production scalability.

Job Duties:

  • Own end-to-end outbound logistics (plant to customer/job site delivery)
  • Build a scalable logistics operating model (inbound + outbound) to support 5X growth
  • Establish a 3PL-enabled inbound network to streamline supplier flows and reduce plant complexity
  • Deliver best-in-class outbound execution for engineered and special load shipments
  • Drive cost productivity, service reliability, and process standardization
  • Design and implement a 3PL-based inbound logistics model (regional hubs, consolidation centers, cross-docks)
  • Build and manage a diversified carrier network (parcel, LTL, FTL, flatbed, heavy haul)
  • Lead RFPs, contract negotiations, and rate benchmarking
  • Optimize mode selection and routing across inbound and outbound flows
  • Optimize dock operations, staging, and throughput for both inbound and outbound
  • Implement and optimize TMS capabilities for both inbound and outbound planning
  • Partner with Procurement to enforce inbound routing compliance and supplier performance
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing to align material availability with production schedules
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, import/export (if applicable), and load securement standards
  • Build and lead a high-performing logistics team across inbound and outbound functions
  • Drive accountability through KPI-based performance management
  • Establish a culture of operational discipline and continuous improvement

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or related field
  • 8-12+ years in logistics with combined inbound and outbound responsibility
  • Proven experience implementing 3PL inbound solutions (consolidation, cross-dock, hub-and-spoke)
  • Strong background in specialized / oversized / engineered shipments
  • Strong knowledge of specialized freight and project logistics
  • Financial and analytical strength (cost modeling, ROI on 3PL strategies)
  • TMS/WMS systems proficiency
  • Strong execution focus with cross-functional leadership capability

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in industrial manufacturing or engineered products environment preferred
  • Demonstrated success in scaling logistics within high-growth or PE-backed companies
