Job description

Who We Are
Welcome to TELUS Digital, where innovation drives impact at a global scale. As an award-winning digital product consultancy and the digital division of TELUS, one of Canada's largest telecommunications providers, we design and deliver transformative customer experiences through cutting-edge technology, agile thinking, and a people-first culture.
With a global team across North America, South America, Central America, Europe, and APAC, we offer end-to-end expertise across eight core service areas: Digital Product Consulting, Digital Marketing Services, Data & AI, Strategy Consulting, Enterprise Technology, Enterprise Applications, Cloud Engineering, and QA & Test Engineering.
From mobile apps and websites to voice UI, chatbots, AI, customer service, and in-store solutions, TELUS Digital enables seamless, trusted, and digitally powered experiences that meet customers wherever they are, all backed by the secure infrastructure and scale of our multi-billion-dollar parent company.
Location & Flexibility
This role can operate remotely within the US (we are prioritizing candidates based on the US West Coast) OR be based out of one of our major US office locations - Charlottesville, VA, Durham, NC, Columbus, OH, or Boston, MA.
The Opportunity
TELUS Digital is seeking an enterprising Vice President of Commercial, AI Data Solutions, to own the commercial growth of our AI Data Training practice. This is a pure commercial leadership role responsible for acquiring, expanding, and retaining strategic relationships with the world's leading AGI and Generative AI builders. The VP will serve as the primary revenue driver and executive face of the business to clients.
Our service offerings span the breadth of what modern AI development demands. On the Generative AI side, we partner with clients to build human-aligned datasets for fine-tuning and evaluating large language models, supporting workflows including Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT), Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF), red teaming, and bespoke dataset creation across more than 20 domains and 100 languages. For data collection, we leverage a global AI Community of over one million contributors to deliver fully managed, multimodal datasets spanning text, audio, video, image, geo, and 3D data at any scale and complexity. Our data annotation capabilities transform raw, ambiguous data into contextually enriched training assets through advanced labeling services covering image and video, audio, text, and 3D sensor fusion. We also provide rigorous data validation services, ensuring datasets are accurate, relevant, and production-ready through offerings such as search evaluation, ad evaluation, geo-location data verification, and machine translation quality assessment. Rounding out our portfolio, we offer a library of off-the-shelf datasets purpose-built for training and evaluating LLMs, computer vision models, and audio AI systems, providing clients with accessible, cost-effective solutions ready for immediate integration.
The VP, Commercial - AI Data Solutions, is accountable for the growth, retention, and strategic direction of TELUS Digital's AI Data Training client portfolio. The successful candidate will build trusted partnerships with leading AGI and GenAI companies, delivering the high-quality human feedback, data annotation, evaluation, and RLHF services that power next-generation AI systems.
Responsibilities
Revenue Growth & Account Expansion
  • Own year-over-year revenue growth across the AI Data Solutions client portfolio, setting and delivering against ambitious commercial targets.
  • Grow wallet share within existing accounts by transitioning clients from discrete data task engagements to comprehensive, long-term AI data partnerships.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing client organizations, expanding across AI research, product, safety, and engineering business units.
  • Develop and execute account-level commercial strategies and roadmaps that drive measurable revenue outcomes and position TELUS Digital as a preferred AI data partner.
Strategic Client Relationship Management
  • Build and own trusted, consultative C-suite and senior leader relationships across client AI labs, foundation model teams, and GenAI product organizations.
  • Serve as the executive sponsor and primary point of escalation for strategic accounts, ensuring client confidence and long-term retention.
  • Actively shape the future direction of client AI programs, positioning TELUS Digital as a thought leader and strategic advisor, not just a service provider.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements, renewals, and expansions that reflect the value delivered and support long-term partnership growth.
Market Positioning & Commercial Strategy
  • Develop deep knowledge of the AGI and GenAI builder landscape, tracking competitive dynamics, emerging client needs, and new data training modalities to inform commercial strategy.
  • Partner with internal delivery, solutions, and marketing teams to shape compelling value propositions, proposals, and go-to-market narratives for the AI data services portfolio.
  • Represent TELUS Digital at industry forums, AI conferences, and client events to build brand presence and develop new commercial relationships.
  • Feed market intelligence back into the business to influence service development, pricing strategy, and competitive positioning.
Commercial Leadership & Financial Accountability
  • Own the commercial P&L for the AI Data Solutions portfolio, managing revenue forecasts, pipeline, and commercial budget aligned to corporate growth objectives.
  • Lead and develop a team of Client Success professionals accountable for client retention, growth, and escalation management.
  • Collaborate with finance and operations leadership to ensure commercial commitments are commercially sound and deliverable.

Competencies
  • Minimum 10 years in enterprise sales, account management, or client success roles, with 2-3 years at the VP level or equivalent in a commercially accountable capacity.
  • Direct experience selling to or partnering with AI labs, foundation model companies, or technology companies building AI-powered products is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated history of meeting or exceeding revenue targets and growing strategic enterprise accounts in a competitive outsourced or professional services environment.
  • Experience leading client-facing commercial teams, including hiring, coaching, and performance management of client success or account management professionals.
  • AI market fluency: credible understanding of the AGI and GenAI builder ecosystem, including how AI labs consume data training services, what drives their build vs. buy decisions, and the competitive landscape for AI data providers.
  • Enterprise sales & alliance management: proven track record of growing large, complex enterprise accounts moving from vendor to strategic partner through consultative selling, executive relationship development, and disciplined pipeline management.
  • Financial & commercial acumen: ability to own a commercial P&L, build revenue forecasts, structure deals, and make sound financial decisions that drive sustainable growth and protect margin.
  • Executive presence & communication: demonstrated ability to forge trusted relationships with C-suite and senior executives at global technology companies, inspiring confidence as a peer, not a vendor.
  • Global commercial leadership: ability to lead client success teams in a matrixed, international environment, motivating commercially focused professionals across geographies and time zones.
  • Agility in a fast-moving market: comfortable operating at AI speed, adapting commercial strategies quickly as client needs, competitive dynamics, and the broader AI landscape shift.
