Raytheon is seeking a highly motivated candidate to serve as the Chief Engineer (CE) for the Stormbreaker Program to support Production for the latest missile configurations. You will support execution of the program by partnering with the StormBreaker Execution Program Director and manage efforts across Integrated Product Teams while interfacing with factories, functional organizations, and the customer community. You will be the technical executive providing tactical directions for program execution and maintaining program cadence to ensure contract deliverables are met.

This position is 100% on site in Tucson, AZ.

What You Will Do

  • Serve as the technical leader responsible for ensuring the successful production, delivery, and continuous improvement of the StormBreaker weapon system. This role establishes and drives the product’s technical vision, strategy, and goals while aligning across multiple programs, customers, and internal organizations.

  • Ensure technical integrity and disciplined engineering execution throughout the (IPT) and across supporting functions, consistently meeting or exceeding cost, schedule, and performance requirements.

  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for senior customer counterparts as well as internal senior program management and engineering leadership for production-related engineering issues.

  • Influence and aligns internal and external stakeholders on technical capabilities, architecture needs, and risk management strategies.

  • Lead planning and execution for incremental capability upgrades, break‑in activities, and system enhancements.

  • Drive positive change through participation in Failure Review Boards (FRB), Failure Review and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) activities, and other continuous improvement initiatives. The position requires deep technical engagement with major subcontractors and partners to ensure compliant, high‑quality product deliverables.

  • Lead and mentor a team of multi‑discipline engineers supporting production, providing daily technical guidance through the CORE Program Control Room and across all fabrication and delivery activities for StormBreaker.

  • Offer technical advisory disposition for Export/Import (EXIM) compliance and fostering growth among early‑career and experienced engineers alike.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

  • Experience with system development and design, requirements development, management, verification, system integration and test, and production.

  • Experience working on modular systems architectures and product lines. 

  • Experience as a technical leader who can develop work plans and drive execution.

  • Experience leading engineering teams.

  • Experience managing resources with multi-million-dollar annual budgets.

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.


Qualifications We Prefer

  • RMD Level 4 Certified Chief Engineer.

  • Excellent communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience in leading and executing the design, development, and production of complex system architecture.

  • Demonstrated experience across the product lifecycle, including concept development, architecture, design, integration, verification, and production.

  • Proven ability to develop effective internal and external customer relationships to ensure customer satisfaction and continued business.

  • Direct experience with Engineering Risks and Opportunities (R&O) Management.

  • Master’s degree in engineering, Physics, or related discipline.

The salary range for this role is 157,200 USD - 298,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
