Import Buyer – Fasteners / Purchasing

Overview

A growing, supply-chain focused distribution company is seeking an Import Buyer – Fasteners to join its purchasing team. This organization differentiates itself through product design, engineering, and global sourcing partnerships, supporting a highly service-driven customer base.

With strong growth plans ahead, this role is critical in ensuring supply continuity, managing global supplier relationships, and navigating commodity-driven market dynamics.

Position Summary

The Import Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and managing fastener suppliers internationally, maintaining strong vendor relationships, and supporting purchasing strategies that align with demand forecasting and market conditions.

This role offers the opportunity to step into a key function within a collaborative team, with exposure to global sourcing, commodity markets, and supply chain strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships with established overseas suppliers
  • Identify and onboard new suppliers as business needs evolve
  • Monitor commodity markets (e.g., metals, freight, currency) and assess impact on purchasing decisions
  • Coordinate import logistics, including tariffs and compliance considerations
  • Forecast purchasing needs based on demand trends and inventory strategy
  • Analyze market conditions to support cost and sourcing decisions
  • Mitigate inventory risk related to product or specification changes

Qualifications
