Reports To: General Manager / Marketing and Business Development Manager

Position Overview:
Cochrane Toyota is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Sales Manager who thrives in a dynamic, customer-focused environment. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong leadership skills and a proven track record of motivating teams to achieve sales targets. As a key member of our leadership team, the Sales Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Sales Department, ensuring optimal inventory levels, implementing sales processes, and driving exceptional customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Team Leadership & Development:

    • Lead and mentor a team of Product Advisors, promoting a culture of accountability, integrity, and excellence.
    • Facilitate onboarding and training programs for new hires, ensuring adherence to Cochrane Toyotaโ€™s sales processes and customer service standards.
    • Establish performance benchmarks and continuously monitor the teamโ€™s progress, providing constructive feedback and coaching to drive improvements.
  2. Sales Strategy & Execution:

    • Develop and implement monthly and quarterly sales strategies to meet departmental goals and maximize profitability.
    • Manage CRM processes to ensure all leads are being handled promptly and effectively by the BDC and Product Advisors.
    • Work closely with the Finance Office to ensure a seamless handoff of customers and efficient deal closure.
    • Oversee pricing and inventory management, leveraging industry insights and market trends to maintain a balanced inventory mix.
  3. Inventory Management & Coordination:

    • Collaborate with the Inventory Manager to maintain a clear understanding of vehicle allocations, DMA-based priority scales, and stock numbering systems.
    • Monitor the status of aged inventory and implement proactive strategies to reduce days on lot, including dealer trades, pricing adjustments, and special promotions.
    • Regularly review and audit inventory listings to ensure accurate representation on digital platforms.
  4. Customer Experience & Relations:

    • Maintain a high standard of guest satisfaction by promoting a consultative, guest-first approach throughout the sales team.
    • Handle escalated guest concerns and manage complex negotiations to achieve win-win outcomes that align with the Cochrane Toyota brand promise.
    • Oversee the integration of Sales and Service BDC processes to ensure a seamless guest experience, from initial inquiry to vehicle delivery and ongoing service.
  5. Process Implementation & Improvement:

    • Lead the development, documentation, and continuous improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Sales Department.
    • Monitor and refine the test drive process to ensure it is engaging, controlled, and tailored to highlight Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) features and other key benefits.
    • Utilize the DMA-based Allocation Priority Scale to optimize order fulfillment and customer satisfaction.
  6. Data-Driven Decision Making:

    • Analyze sales data, customer feedback, and CRM metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
    • Work closely with the Marketing and Business Development Manager to optimize lead generation and improve the quality of inbound leads.
    • Provide monthly and quarterly reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), including sales targets, closing percentages, and customer satisfaction scores.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive sales management, with a proven track record of achieving sales targets.
  • Strong understanding of Toyota products, sales processes, and dealership operations.
  • Proficient in CRM systems (experience with PBSย preferred).
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a detail-oriented mindset and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven.

Additional Skills & Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) and other Toyota-specific features is an asset.
  • Familiarity with allocation processes and inventory management best practices.
  • Experience developing and implementing SOPs in a fast-paced environment.
