Job Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days - totaling 80 hours worked - and have every other Friday off

Job Description:

The Specialist, Project Engineer role involves performing and/or coordinating propulsion program tasks in conjunction with program management. Under limited general direction, you will be responsible for implementing design and analysis tasks and overseeing special studies and experiments. Additionally, you will coordinate ballistic, thermal, and structural analyses, as well as perform post-test examination, analyses, and reporting while supporting the program technical lead. 

Essential Functions:

  • Provide imaginative, thorough, and practicable solutions to a wide range of technical problems involving the conventional utilization of engineering techniques.

  • Read, interpret, and write specifications and technical documents.

  • Prepare technical and design requirements in support of project goals.

  • Keep current in relevant technologies and methods in support of project assignments.

  • Provide direction in problem investigations and resolution across functional areas.

  • Understanding and/or leads Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) process.

  • May be assigned Earned Value Management duties.

  • Travel: 10%.

  • Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum of 4 years of prior project engineering experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years of prior project engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior project engineering experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other engineering discipline is preferred.

  • Two (2) or more years of experience with solid propellant propulsion projects is highly desired.

  • CAM experience is desired.

  • CAD knowledge is desired.

  • Manufacturing experience is desired.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software is required.

  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with technical and non-technical professionals at all levels.

  • Ability to establish and maintain priorities in a dynamic environment.

  • Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work well under pressure, in a collaborative, dynamic and multi-disciplinary environment.

  • Strong time management skills.

  • Ability to maintain attention to detail.
