Our client, a growing and progressive home builder based in Calgary, is seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead overall operations and support the company's next phase of growth. This is a hands-on leadership role suited for someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and brings a strong balance of operational expertise, financial acumen, and relationship management.

The Opportunity
Reporting to senior leadership, the General Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day and long-term performance of the business. This role oversees all functional areas, ensuring alignment across construction, sales, customer experience, and corporate operations, while driving efficiency, profitability, and scalable growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and direction across operations, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards
  • Oversee construction management teams including Construction Managers, Site Superintendents, and field operations, fostering accountability and performance
  • Lead and support corporate functions including estimating, design, warranty, and accounting
  • Partner closely with sales and marketing teams, including Area Managers, to align operational capacity with market demand and customer expectations
  • Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction throughout the homebuilding process
  • Lead P&L performance, with a strong focus on budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and overall profitability
  • Drive costing accuracy, margin improvement, and disciplined financial management across all projects
  • Establish and track key performance indicators, setting clear goals and ensuring alignment across departments
  • Identify and implement process improvements, systems, and technologies to enhance efficiency and scalability

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience within residential home building or a related construction environment

  • Solid financial acumen, including P&L oversight, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
  • Experience overseeing cross-functional teams, both in the field and in-office
  • Demonstrated ability to improve systems, processes, and operational efficiency
  • Tech-savvy with an openness to adopting and implementing new tools and platforms
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate both strategically and tactically
