We are seeking Twi (Akan) Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Twi, a major West African language spoken in Ghana and diaspora communities, is a rare but critical language often required in asylum, refugee, and immigration proceedings.
Responsibilities
  • Provide real-time Twi (Akan) ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and official proceedings.
  • Interpret with accuracy, impartiality, and professionalism in immigration and asylum contexts.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with USCIS/DHS interpreter ethics and standards.
  • Support both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge interpretation needs.
  • Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance audits.
Qualifications
  • Native or near-native fluency in Twi (Akan) and English.
  • 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, community, healthcare, or government preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural awareness.
  • Excellent telephone communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 security clearance.
