Portner & Shure is a busy immigration, personal injury, and criminal defense firm. We are searching for an experienced immigration attorney. The candidate must be familiar with family petitions, asylum cases, SIJS, U-Visas, waivers (including I-601A, I-601, I-212), H1B visas, cancellation of removal, Deportation, TN Visas, H1B employment petitions, eligibility under ยง 241(i), and employment petitions.


Immigration Attorney Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate case and legal strategies.
  • Manage various projects and deadlines.
  • Negotiate, prepare, and revise documents.
  • Explain legal language to clients.
  • Research unique legal issues by identifying applicable statutes and judicial decisions.
  • Keep abreast of legislative changes that may affect immigration.
  • Develop solutions to complex legal questions.
  • Prepare motions, court filings and immigration related forms and be able to prepare clients for asylum interviews and court hearings
  • Attend master calendar hearings, bond hearings, and individual/merits hearings.


Immigration Attorney Requirements:

  • JD Degree
  • Active Virginia Bar License (in good standing)
  • Have excellent writing skills
  • Spanish required


Compensation and Benefits:
