Job description

Engineering Intern (Temporary)
Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour
Schedule: 35-40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, between 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Assignment Type: Temporary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Temporary Clerical Assistant to support our Engineering Department with document organization, file management, and scanning projects. This role involves working with both paper and electronic engineering records to ensure documents are accurately reviewed, organized, scanned, and archived.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review and organize engineering paper files and drawings according to established written procedures.
  • Cull and identify documents that should be retained and scanned.
  • Scan and upload approved documents into electronic storage systems, including Autodesk Vault.
  • Verify whether documents already exist in electronic format before scanning.
  • Maintain accurate filing systems in numerical and alphabetical order.
  • Label, organize, and catalog files that have been scanned or transferred to electronic storage.
  • Apply project numbers and replace missing or damaged file labels as needed.
  • Dispose of outdated documents according to department procedures.
  • Perform additional clerical and administrative support tasks as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written instructions accurately.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to navigate electronic filing systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Comfortable handling older and potentially dusty files and documents.
  • Ability to bend, stretch, lift, and retrieve files or large drawing sets from shelves and drawers.
  • Ability to carry files and drawings to designated workstations, including navigating stairs.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work the required schedule.
Preferred Skills
  • Prior clerical, records management, or document scanning experience preferred.
  • Experience working with engineering documents or Autodesk Vault is a plus, but not required.
