Join the IMIS team that sustains the F-22 Raptor's operational readiness. IMIS delivers mission-critical hardware and software that automate maintenance, enhance diagnostics, shorten cycle times, and improve aircraft availability. As the technical authority for the IMIS software portfolio, you will shape architecture, guide multidisciplinary teams through the full development lifecycle, and ensure delivery of secure and reliable solutions for one of the world's most advanced fighters.
Technical Leadership & Architecture
  • Lead software development activities and serve as the primary technical decision-maker.
  • Define and maintain architecture, design patterns, technology roadmaps, and modernization strategies.
  • Conduct trade studies and design reviews to ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure, and aligned with program goals.
  • Establish engineering best practices, coding standards, and development processes.
  • Experience leading software architecture and development for high-availability, safety-critical systems, preferably aerospace or defense

Software Development & System Integration
  • Provide hands-on leadership for design, development, integration, and troubleshooting of complex software systems.
  • Oversee integration across software, hardware interfaces, databases, and external systems.
  • Drive root-cause analysis and resolution of performance, reliability, and maintainability issues.
  • Support deployment, configuration management, and software lifecycle sustainment.

UI/UX Design & Human Factors
  • Guide development of intuitive, user-centered interfaces for maintenance operations.
  • Apply UI/UX, usability, and human-centered design principles to improve operator effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with end users, stakeholders, and system engineers to refine workflows and ensure consistency, accessibility, and responsiveness.

Agile Leadership & Engineering Excellence
  • Lead Agile teams using Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid methodologies and partner with the IMIS Portfolio Integrator and Release Train Engineer on planning, refinement, estimation, and releases.
  • Champion DevSecOps, continuous integration, automated testing, and continuous delivery.
  • Establish metrics and processes that improve software quality, development velocity, and predictability.
  • Expertise in Agile methodologies, Scrum/Kanban, and large-scale release coordination.

Technical Documentation & Compliance
  • Produce and review architecture documents, design descriptions, ICDs, technical specifications, and other engineering artifacts.
  • Ensure traceability from requirements through design, implementation, and verification.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational, customer, cybersecurity, and quality standards

Mentorship & Team Development
  • Mentor engineers at all experience levels and conduct code inspections, design assessments, and technical reviews.
  • Foster engineering excellence, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the technical bridge between engineering teams, the Portfolio Integrator, and program leadership.

Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including experience leading software development teams or serving as a technical lead.
• Strong development experience in C++, Java, JavaScript, SQL, C#, Qt, and shell scripting.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs, web services, and distributed software systems.
• Experience with application containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes and container orchestration concepts.
• Experience developing and maintaining software applications on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Solaris operating systems.
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing complex software architectures and distributed systems.
• Experience leading software development efforts through the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles, software design patterns, and modern engineering practices.
• Experience with Agile software development methodologies and DevSecOps practices.
• Experience authoring software design documentation, technical specifications, and architecture artifacts.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance.
Desired Skills

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $148300.00 - $275500.00

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
