Job Description
Job Summary:
Plans and directs the engineering activities of the organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers. Develops, implements and monitors appropriate goals, policies, practices and procedures, and all other duties as assigned. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Detailed Description:
  • Knowledge and understanding of industry developments, trends and experiences related to manufacturing of products or product components.
  • Knowledge of methodologies, tools and techniques for designing, building and managing the manufacture of new products.
  • Knowledge of the methodology and associated phases, activities and deliverables for the design of new products and the enhancement of existing products; ability to apply the methodology in diverse scenarios.
  • Knowledge and associated ability to apply technical, scientific and mathematical knowledge to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems and processes that safely realize a desired objective or invention.
  • Knowledge of technologies and applications used in manufacturing products and in the optimization of manufacturing processes.
  • Develops the engineering plan and establishes procedures for maintaining high standards of engineering operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards.
  • Formulates and recommends engineering policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation.
  • Directs and monitors department managers to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures. Acts as liaison between department management/subordinate levels, as well as executive/department manager levels to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and all matters that affect their performance, attitudes and results. Interacts with subordinate supervisors, outside customers, and functional peer groups at various management levels. Interaction normally requires the ability to inspire and gain cooperation of others, to conduct or aid other in conducting presentations or to exchange information.

Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline required as a minimum. Position will require technical coordination with various engineering disciplines. Familiarization with various engineering software packages used for modeling. Position will require coordination with manufacturing and logistics. Some travel is required.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
Experience with design and build of space flight hardware. Space Launch System experience and knowledge of Artemis requirements.
