Job Description

The Indiana University Foundation is seeking aDonor Experience Officer (DXO)to play a pivotal role in engaging, retaining, and growing IU's donor community. This position serves as theentry point to the midlevel donor pipeline, cultivating and soliciting annual donors while identifying and qualifying future major gift prospects. 

The DXO manages a broad portfolio of donors aligned to specific campuses, schools, and units (CSUs) across IU, using data, digital engagement, and personalized outreach to drive renewals, upgrades, and long-term donor loyalty. Working in close partnership with anIndividual Giving Officer (IGO), the DXO helps transform consistent supporters into deeply engaged philanthropic partners. 

This role is ideal for a relationship driven professional who enjoys measurable goals, meaningful conversations, and connecting people to missionaligned opportunities-primarily through digital and virtual channels. 

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Manage and engage approximately500-1,000 donors and prospects 
  • Conduct30+ personalized donor touchpoints per working daythrough video, email, phone, and digital platforms 
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward annual and leadership annual gifts aligned with IU priorities 
  • Use data and digital analytics to prioritize outreach, monitor giving trends, and time solicitations effectively 
  • Collaborate with IGO partners to identify, qualify, and refer donors with major gift potential 
  • Deliver compelling donor centered stories that inspire renewed and increased support 
  • Partner with CSU development colleagues, Prospect Management & Research, and Annual Giving to ensure coordinated engagement 
  • Accurately document donor interactions, solicitations, and outcomes in IUF databases 
  • Track and perform against clearly defined metrics, including touch points, meetings, solicitations, dollars raised, and upgrades. 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills across multiple mediums 
  • Comfort engaging donors via video conferencing, phone, text, and digital platforms 
  • Strong technical aptitude, including CRM systems, Microsoft applications, email tools, and digital engagement platforms 

Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree required 
  • 2+ years of professional experience in fundraising, sales, marketing, communications, nonprofit work, or a call center environment preferred 
Additional Information

The compensation Range is$50,000 - $53,000 annually, commensurate with experience. This is a Remote (must be in the state of IN) position that requires onsite Bloomington visits multiple times (approximately 4) per month along with evenings and weekends.
