Job description

You will be the Electromechanical Design Engineer for the Common Command Flight Termination System (FTS) team. Our team leads the IRAD and ModSTAR initiatives that create reusable, high reliability hardware for flight termination applications across all future LockheedMartin missile programs.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Electromechanical Design Engineer you will be responsible for designing the ISD (Ignition Safety device) packaging that will serve as the common ISD backbone for every new FTS. You will work hand in hand with electrical, mechanical and systems engineers to turn performance requirements into a manufacturable, flight qualified hardware solution. Your responsibilities will include:
Developing detailed 3 D models, 2 D drawings and electromechanical layouts for the ISD
Selecting materials, components and manufacturing processes that satisfy size, weight, power and environmental constraints.
Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials, obtaining vendor quotes and coordinating build up with internal shops and external suppliers.
Defining acceptance test criteria, executing verification tests and documenting results for each hardware iteration.
Conducting thermal, shock, vibration and EMI analyses to ensure compliance with flight termination standards.
Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and supporting cross functional integration activities.
Maintaining configuration control and design documentation in LockheedMartin PLM tools.
Supporting prototype fabrication, assembly, inspection and lab testing.
Traveling as needed to supplier sites or program milestones to validate hardware performance.
