Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client seeking a remote HMI (Ignition) Developer to support the design, development, and deployment of standardized Human-Machine Interface (HMI) solutions for large-scale energy and infrastructure projects. This role focuses on building intuitive, reliable, and scalable Ignition-based HMI applications that support commissioning, operations, and long-term system performance. The ideal candidate is experienced in Ignition development and enjoys collaborating with cross-functional engineering, SCADA, and field teams in a fast-paced project environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain standardized Ignition HMI applications, including Vision, Perspective, and Gateway modules
* Design intuitive operator interfaces, dashboards, reports, alarms, and trending displays optimized for various workflows
* Build and maintain User Defined Types (UDTs) and reusable templates to support consistent implementation across projects
* Integrate HMI applications with historians, data export tools, SCADA systems, PLCs, and communication protocols
* Implement alarm management systems, notification workflows, and system monitoring features
* Create custom Python scripts and SQL queries to enhance HMI functionality and performance
* Support project execution through commissioning activities, troubleshooting, and field support
* Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) efforts
* Develop and maintain HMI documentation, configuration records, and user guides
* Ensure adherence to internal HMI standards, cybersecurity practices, and quality guidelines
* Maintain version control and configuration management for all HMI applications
* Collaborate with SCADA, controls, field service, and project management teams
* Contribute to continuous improvement, standardization initiatives, and digital transformation efforts
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related technical field
* Ignition certifications (Gold or Platinum level preferred)
* 3+ years of hands-on experience with Inductive Automation Ignition platform
* Experience with version control systems (Git) and documentation tools
* Experience with SQL databases (MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
* Hands-on experience with network, telemetry mapping, and database management
* Understanding of electrical systems, P&IDs, and control logic
* Knowledge of power plant operations and grid interconnection requirements
* Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, OPC-UA, DNP3)
* Knowledge of cybersecurity practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., NERC CIP)

* Familiarity with ICCP/TASE.2, RTU protocols
* Familiarity with cybersecurity standards (NERC CIP compliance preferred)
* Proficiency in Ignition Vision and/or Perspective modules
* Strong Python scripting skills for Ignition applications
* Ability to understand electrical schematics and drawings
* Ability to understand SCADA and communication schematics and drawings
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
