Job description

If you are a curious, pragmatic, and hands‑on engineer who enjoys learning, improving the way teams work, and collaborating with others, then this role is for you.

If you like taking initiative, bringing structure, and contributing ideas that make a real difference, you’ll feel at ease in our team.

About the Role

As part of the Supply Chain organization, you join the Industrialization team and support all HMS divisions in the mass manufacturing of Industrial IoT products, mainly through external manufacturing partners.

Your focus is to develop, deploy, and maintain software‑driven test solutions for electronic boards (PCBAs) and final products, while helping strengthen software development practices within the team. You stay closely connected to the realities of electronics manufacturing and ensure that test systems are reliable, scalable, and well‑structured.

The role combines long‑term development, operational support, and continuous improvement, all within an Agile environment where sprints guide priorities and collaboration.

Role and Responsibilities Test Solution Development & Reliability
  • You design, implement, and maintain software for test benches used in PCBA and product manufacturing.
  • You translate product and manufacturing requirements into clear, actionable test specifications.
  • You ensure that test solutions are robust, maintainable, traceable, and aligned with HMS production test guidelines.
  • You monitor test system performance and ensure availability across environments.
  • You implement validation mechanisms such as self‑tests and regression tests.
  • You support the deployment and integration of test solutions within manufacturing environments.
  • You contribute to the standardization and reuse of test methodologies and architectures.
Methodology & Operational Contribution
  • You promote modern software development practices, including versioning, release management, collaborative workflows, and code reviews.
  • You improve bug and feature tracking, prioritization, and follow‑up.
  • You collaborate with Design, Quality, IT, R&D, and subcontractors to ensure alignment across disciplines.
  • You support manufacturing operations by improving test reliability and operational efficiency.
  • You identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and smarter data usage, including the use of AI when relevant.
  • You strengthen the team’s collective capability by sharing knowledge and supporting your peers.
Your Profile Background
  • You have 5–10 years of experience in software development, embedded systems, industrial IT, or manufacturing test environments.
  • You have experience working with software that interacts with physical electronic hardware.
  • You are comfortable in electronics manufacturing environments and understand production constraints.
  • You have experience working in Agile environments, which is a strong plus.
Technical Skills
  • You have strong proficiency in Python.
  • You bring experience with NI TestStand or LabVIEW (a major advantage).
  • You have good knowledge of Linux, servers, and scripting.
  • You have experience with APIs, backend services, and modern deployment environments (e.g., containers).
  • You have strong experience with version control and collaborative workflows (Git/SVN).
  • You can troubleshoot issues across software‑hardware boundaries.
  • You can quickly develop practical tools or scripts to support operations.
  • You have a strong interest in electronics or embedded systems, whether through professional work or personal projects.
Mindset & Soft Skills
  • You are pragmatic, hands‑on, and solution‑oriented.
  • You operate efficiently under real operational constraints.
  • You are open‑minded, constructive, and comfortable challenging existing practices.
  • You work autonomously while collaborating effectively in iterative cycles.
  • You are curious, proactive, and eager to bring ideas from past experiences.
  • You understand that software decisions have a direct physical impact on hardware and production.
What We Offer
  • A position in a company that has been growing in the last years.
  • A long‑term secure job and a permanent contract in the future market of industrial communication and industry 4.0.
  • An attractive salary and fringe benefits, including a company car, and homeworking.
  • Opportunities for continuous professional training and development relating to your skills and experience.
  • A modern office with a great working environment in Nivelles.
