HED is looking to add an experienced person to our ICT team. The ICT Engineer is HEDโ€™s foremost expert in the planning, design, and delivery of advanced information and communication technology (ICT) systems in the mission critical data center environment.

Position Summary

This role operates as a sector-wide authority and trusted advisor, translating complex client and project needs into innovative, integrated ICT strategies that drive building performance, resiliency, and future-ready design. At this level, the ICT Engineer sets vision for discipline growth, guides multidisciplinary coordination at the highest level, and champions firmwide innovation in digital building infrastructure. They serve as the โ€œgo-toโ€ resource across the mission critical sector, shaping technical excellence, mentoring leaders, and strengthening client trust through thought leadership and advocacy.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide sector wide mission critical leadership for ICT system design, delivery, and innovation across large-scale, complex, and high-profile data center projects.
  • Set vision for ICT integration, ensuring alignment with client objectives, sustainability goals, and HEDโ€™s multidisciplinary design excellence.
  • Serve as the highest-level technical authority on structured cabling, network/telecom infrastructure, wireless systems, audiovisual, and converged building systems.
  • Translate emerging technologies, digital design trends, and industry standards into HED best practices, standards, and tools.
  • Direct and review highly complex ICT analyses, specifications, and interdisciplinary coordination, ensuring excellence and code compliance.
  • Lead client-facing engagements as a trusted advisor, including business development pursuits, interviews, and strategic partnerships.
  • Mentor and develop senior ICT engineers, advancing future firm leaders.
  • Champion firmwide knowledge-sharing by authoring white papers, speaking at conferences, and leading cross-sector innovation initiatives.
  • Oversee discipline performance in construction administration, providing expert resolution for the most complex field conditions.
  • Serve as a resource integrator, building professional networks and leveraging external partnerships to drive firm growth and technical distinction.

Requirements

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in electrical, ICT, or related Engineering discipline required or equivalent tenured experience as demonstrated through industry recognized certification and/or licensure; Masterโ€™s degree preferred.
  • RCDD certification required.
  • Advanced professional certifications strongly preferred, such as BICSI DCDC/OSP, PMP, or LEED AP.
  • 10โ€“15 years of ICT or low-voltage design experience in the AEC industry, with significant leadership in large-scale, multidisciplinary projects.
  • Recognized expertise in structured cabling, network/telecom infrastructure, and low-voltage systems integration.
  • Proven ability to set vision and strategy for ICT within an integrated design environment.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with demonstrated success in influencing client, team, and industry decisions.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and ICT-related design software required.
  • Advanced knowledge of ICT standards (BICSI, TIA/EIA, NEC) and relevant building codes required.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in writing and verbally via phone, video conferencing, and in-person.
  • Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.
