Job description

ROXBOX | Transforming Steel into Epic Experiences
You don't just draft plans-you engineer how work gets done.
You're at your best when standards are clear, drawings are tight, and the path from concept to construction is logically sound. You value autonomy, accuracy, and authority over your domain, and you take pride in creating architectural solutions that hold up in the real world-not just on paper.
At ROXBOX, your designs won't sit in a portfolio-they'll show up in high-profile food halls, entertainment venues, municipal spaces, hospitality projects, and branded installations across the U.S. and the Caribbean. We build bold, modular structures for clients who expect innovation, speed, and impact-and we're looking for a Lead Architect who's ready to own that responsibility as we scale.
This is a role for someone who wants real ownership, influence over how design scales, and the satisfaction of seeing their work get built-and noticed.
What You'll Own & Lead
  • Architectural Leadership: Lead and mentor designers and engineers, setting standards, reviewing work, and ensuring consistency, accuracy, and accountability across the design team.
  • Client-Facing Design Authority: Work directly with clients to understand goals, constraints, and vision-then translate that into modular-ready architectural solutions.
  • Design-to-Production Translation: Serve as the bridge between architecture and manufacturing, ensuring designs are buildable, efficient, and aligned with production realities.
  • Process & Capacity Building: Implement and refine design workflows, standards, and tools that increase throughput and prepare the team for growth.
  • Technical Oversight: Spot-check models, drawings, and details; step in hands-on when complexity demands it; coach the team toward better outcomes.
  • Problem Anticipation & Resolution: Identify design risks early and develop smart solutions to keep projects moving and teams aligned.
  • Documentation Excellence: Create and refine drawings, diagrams, and specifications that are clear, complete, and construction-ready.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current on industry trends, emerging tools, and better methods-and bring what works back into the ROXBOX system.
What Makes You a Strong Fit
  • Licensed Architect in Texas, Colorado, or another U.S. state
  • 5+ years of architectural design experience, ideally with steel structures, fabrication, or modular construction
  • 2+ years leading or managing architectural/design teams with accountability for results
  • Strong 3D modeling and documentation skills with the ability to review, correct, and teach others
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and momentum
  • Clear, confident communicator who can explain design decisions and the "why" behind them

Preferred (Not Required):
  • Experience with shipping container or modular construction
  • Multi-state licensure
  • 5+ years leading architect-designer teams

Software & Tools
  • Revit
  • AutoCAD
  • Bluebeam
  • Autodesk Viewer
  • Google Workspace
  • (SketchUp and SolidWorks experience helpful; currently being phased out)

Compensation & Details
  • $150,000 - $200,000+ earning potential, based on experience, scope, and performance
  • Full-time leadership role with benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k, Life, etc.)
  • Location: On-site in Houston, TX (77041)
  • High-visibility role with real impact on how ROXBOX scales

Why ROXBOX
  • Modular projects that actually get built-and get noticed
  • Clients and locations that demand creativity and precision
  • Leadership that respects expertise, systems, and accountability
  • A company that works hard, builds cool things, and takes the business seriously
  • Opportunity to shape how architecture scales in a manufacturing-driven environment

How to Apply
Submit your resume and cover letter. In your cover letter, please address:
  1. A design system, standard, or process you implemented that improved quality or speed.
  2. How you balance architectural vision with constructability and real-world constraints.
  3. What conditions allow you to do your best technical work.
