Senior Legal Executive/General Counsel Coach

On-site

Contractor

This job post has expired today. Applications are no longer accepted.

Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Legal Executive/General Counsel Coach based in Netherlands.

This is a part-time coaching opportunity for highly experienced legal leaders who have led European legal teams within or alongside U.S.-headquartered technology companies.
You will use your senior legal leadership experience to help professionals become stronger leaders, communicate more effectively, navigate workplace challenges, and achieve meaningful career goals.
The role combines executive-level legal expertise with structured one-to-one coaching, supported by dedicated training, proprietary tools, and a collaborative coaching community.
You will work virtually with members while providing thoughtful support between sessions through digital communication.
All selected coaches participate in an ICF-certified coaching program, enabling experienced leaders to develop a structured and impactful coaching practice regardless of prior certification.
The flexible, remote format is designed to complement other professional commitments while encouraging long-term relationships with members.
This role is ideal for senior legal executives who are passionate about developing people, continuous learning, and helping professionals build fulfilling and successful careers.

Accountabilities
  • Provide high-quality one-to-one coaching to members through virtual sessions using dedicated coaching platforms and tools.
  • Help members establish clear professional goals, identify actionable steps, track progress, and maintain accountability.
  • Draw on your senior legal leadership experience to help members strengthen leadership capabilities, communication, decision-making, problem-solving, and workplace effectiveness.
  • Support members as they navigate complex professional situations, leadership challenges, career decisions, and organizational dynamics.
  • Create a safe, respectful, empathetic, and confidential environment where members can openly explore challenges and take meaningful steps toward growth.
  • Communicate with members between coaching sessions through dedicated email and in-app messaging to maintain continuity and momentum.
  • Participate in required and ongoing coach training to strengthen coaching capabilities and apply the established coaching methodology consistently.
  • Engage actively with the coaching community by sharing relevant coaching tools, legal leadership insights, experiences, and best practices.
  • Contribute to a collaborative coaching culture centered on learning, growth, empathy, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as an ambassador for the coaching community by demonstrating professionalism, kindness, respect, sound judgment, and emotional intelligence.
  • Maintain a consistent coaching commitment of at least 12+ hours per month for a minimum of 24 months to support meaningful long-term member relationships.
  • Successfully complete the required ICF-certified coach training program before beginning coaching engagements and apply the methodology throughout your coaching practice.
Requirements:
  • 20+ years of professional experience in legal leadership, including substantial experience leading legal teams within or adjacent to the technology industry.
  • Experience serving as a General Counsel, Chief Legal Officer, senior legal executive, or equivalent leader with responsibility for a European legal organization or office within a U.S.-headquartered technology company.
  • Demonstrated experience managing, developing, mentoring, and coaching legal professionals and other leaders.
  • Strong executive presence and the ability to draw on real-world leadership experience without allowing subject-matter expertise to replace a coaching approach.
  • Coaching certification is a plus but not required, as selected coaches participate in the required ICF-certified coach training program.
  • Genuine interest in transforming senior legal leadership experience into meaningful professional coaching skills.
  • Strong self-awareness and emotional intelligence, with the ability to listen actively and create a psychologically safe environment for members.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to ask thoughtful questions, challenge constructively, and help others develop their own solutions.
  • Passion for helping professionals advance in their careers, become stronger leaders, and build fulfilling professional and personal lives.
  • Growth mindset and enthusiasm for learning, feedback, and developing coaching capabilities regardless of previous coaching experience.
  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-changing, startup-oriented environment.
  • Able to dedicate at least 3-5 hours per week, or a minimum of 12+ hours per month, to coaching responsibilities.
  • Commitment to remaining active for at least 24 months to build meaningful, sustained relationships with members.
  • Comfortable working remotely and collaborating virtually with a distributed coaching community.
  • Candidates must be based in North America or Europe.
Benefits:
  • Part-time contract opportunity designed to complement other professional and leadership commitments.
  • Fully remote working arrangement.
  • Compensation paid on an hourly basis.
  • Additional bonus opportunities tied to member engagement and community growth.
  • ICF-certified coach training provided to all selected coaches, regardless of previous coaching certification.
  • Opportunity to earn Continuing Coach Education Units upon successful completion of the certified training program.
  • Access to proprietary coaching tools and methodology designed to enhance coaching effectiveness.
  • Ongoing training and professional development to strengthen coaching capabilities.
  • Opportunity to join a collaborative community of experienced coaches and exchange insights, tools, and best practices.
  • Meaningful opportunity to support professionals through leadership development, career transitions, and workplace challenges.
  • Flexible commitment of at least 12+ hours per month, suitable for experienced executives seeking to expand their coaching practice.
  • Long-term opportunity to develop deeper coaching relationships over a minimum 24-month period.
  • Inclusive environment that values diverse professional experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds.
  • Rolling opportunities based on member demand, with successful candidates either invited to an upcoming monthly coaching training cohort or placed on a coach shortlist until demand becomes available.
