What are ICCs?

ICCs, or Interstitial Cells of Cajal, are specialized cells found in the gastrointestinal tract that play a critical role in regulating digestive motility. They act as pacemakers that generate and coordinate the rhythmic contractions of the gut, allowing food to move smoothly through the digestive system. ICCs also help mediate communication between nerves and smooth muscle cells in the intestines. Dysfunction or loss of ICCs has been linked to various gastrointestinal motility disorders.

What are some typical challenges faced by professionals working in Internal Control and Compliance Services (ICCS), and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in ICCS often encounter challenges such as ensuring adherence to rapidly changing regulatory requirements, managing cross-departmental communication, and maintaining up-to-date documentation for audits. To address these, it's important to stay current with industry regulations through continuous learning, foster strong working relationships across teams, and utilize robust compliance management systems. Proactively engaging in training and leveraging technology can help streamline processes and reduce the risk of compliance gaps.
