Hunting Sales Associate information

What is a hunting sales associate?

Hunting Sales Associates are retail professionals who specialize in assisting customers with hunting-related products and equipment. They provide knowledgeable guidance on firearms, ammunition, hunting apparel, and accessories, ensuring customers select the right gear for their needs. These associates may also handle inventory, process transactions, and maintain compliance with safety and legal regulations related to hunting products. Excellent customer service, product expertise, and adherence to store and legal policies are essential aspects of their role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a hunting sales associate?

To thrive as a Hunting Sales Associate, you need strong knowledge of hunting equipment, firearms, and outdoor gear, often supported by sales experience and, in some areas, relevant licensing or permits. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and inventory management software is typically required. Excellent customer service, communication, and a passion for the outdoors help build trust and rapport with customers. These skills ensure accurate product recommendations, compliant sales, and a positive shopping experience that drives customer loyalty.

What are some common challenges faced by a hunting sales associate and how can they be addressed?

Hunting Sales Associates often face the challenge of staying updated on an ever-changing inventory of specialized products and ensuring compliance with local and federal regulations for firearm and ammunition sales. To overcome these challenges, associates should routinely participate in product training sessions and stay informed about current laws and store policies. Building strong product knowledge and maintaining excellent customer service are key to assisting both novice and experienced customers effectively. Collaborating closely with team members and management also helps ensure a smooth workflow and up-to-date compliance practices.

Job description

Outside Sales Associate / Trainee
Indianapolis, IN
$65,000 Guaranteed Base Salary
Full-Time | Monday-Friday
Ready to Build a Career in Outside Sales?
Auto-Chlor System is hiring an Outside Sales Associate / Trainee to join our Indianapolis team.
This is a developmental outside sales position designed for someone who is ready to build their B2B sales skills and grow into an Outside Sales Representative (OSR) role.
You'll start with a guaranteed $65,000 base salary while learning our business, developing your prospecting skills, and actively hunting for new customers in areas identified by the Branch Manager. As you demonstrate success and become ready to manage your own territory, you'll have the opportunity to advance into our Outside Sales Representative role with a base salary plus uncapped commission.
What You'll Do
  • Prospect and cold call restaurants, hospitality businesses, and other commercial accounts.
  • Hunt for new business in geographic areas and markets identified by the Branch Manager.
  • Spend time in the field identifying potential customers and creating new sales opportunities.
  • Conduct in-person prospecting and introduce Auto-Chlor's products and services to decision-makers.
  • Build and maintain a consistent pipeline of prospective customers.
  • Utilize our CRM to document activity, manage prospects, and move opportunities through the sales process.
  • Learn how to identify customer needs, present solutions, overcome objections, and close business.
  • Develop strong knowledge of Auto-Chlor's products, services, customers, and competitive advantages.
  • Work closely with branch leadership to develop the skills necessary to progress into an Outside Sales Representative role.

What We Offer
  • $65,000 guaranteed base salary while in the Sales Associate / Trainee role.
  • A structured path toward promotion into an Outside Sales Representative position with base salary + uncapped commission.
  • Extensive paid sales and product training.
  • Company vehicle, mobile phone, and gas card.
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • 401(k) plan with company match and profit sharing.
  • Paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave.
  • Long-term career growth with an established company.

What We're Looking For
You don't need to be an experienced outside sales professional, but you do need to be comfortable getting out into the market, approaching new businesses, and hearing "no" while continuing to prospect.
We're looking for someone who:
  • Is motivated by sales, growth, and earning potential.
  • Is comfortable with cold calling and in-person prospecting.
  • Enjoys meeting new people and building relationships.
  • Has the confidence to approach business owners and decision-makers.
  • Is self-motivated and comfortable working independently in the field.
  • Is organized and able to manage follow-up activity and a developing pipeline.
  • Is coachable and interested in developing into a full Outside Sales Representative.
  • Has a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Has a high school diploma or GED.

Previous experience in sales, customer service, hospitality, restaurants, retail, fitness, route service, or other customer-facing environments can be a strong fit.
Your Career Path
This role is intended to develop our next Outside Sales Representative.
You'll begin by prospecting and developing new business in areas directed by the Branch Manager while receiving a guaranteed $65,000 base salary. As you build your sales skills and demonstrate that you're ready to independently develop and manage a territory, you'll have the opportunity to advance into an Outside Sales Representative role with base salary plus uncapped commission.
If you're competitive, comfortable talking to people, and interested in building a long-term career in outside sales, we want to hear from you.
