Job description

Reports to: Director of Tech Services and Project Management
Cooperates with: Engineering, Accounting, Production, Sales, Customers
Primary Responsibility: The Manager of Project Management is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and strategic direction of the Project Management department. This role ensures that all MIRATECH projects are executed in alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and contractual requirements while maintaining strong customer relationships and operational excellence. The Manager leads, develops, and oversees Project Managers and Project Administrators, establishes departmental standards, drives continuous improvement, and ensures consistent execution across all projects. This position serves as the primary escalation point for complex commercial, schedule, and customer matters and works cross-functionally to align project execution with MIRATECH's financial and operational objectives.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the entire Project Management team, including Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, Lead Project Managers, and Project Administrators.
  • Establish and maintain standardized project management processes, procedures, reporting structures, and documentation requirements.
  • Ensure all projects are managed in accordance with Customer contracts and MIRATECH internal policies, maintaining compliance across scope, schedule, and commercial terms.
  • Oversee departmental workload distribution, resource allocation, and project assignments to ensure balanced capacity and efficient execution.
  • Review and monitor project schedules, budgets, revenue recognition, and cost tracking to ensure financial performance aligns with company objectives.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex project risks, customer disputes, scope changes, and cross-department coordination challenges.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Engineering during proposal development to provide project execution input, risk assessment, and resource planning.
  • Capable of dealing with complex issues with complex customers.
  • Lead regular project review meetings to assess status, identify risks, and implement corrective actions where needed.
  • Develop and track departmental KPIs including schedule adherence, margin performance, change order management, customer satisfaction, and warranty trends.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to eliminate inefficiencies, improve communication flow, and enhance project execution standards.
  • Mentor and develop Project Managers through coaching, performance reviews, training plans, and career path guidance.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and succession planning for the Project Management department.
  • Ensure proper coordination with Technical Services for commissioning, field support, and project closeout activities.
  • Support warranty resolution efforts in collaboration with Engineering, Field Services, and Production.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key Customers, serving as an executive-level point of contact when necessary.
  • Prepare and present departmental performance reports to executive leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven leadership experience managing Project Managers in a technical, manufacturing, or construction-related environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage departmental budgets, resource planning, and financial performance metrics.
  • Strong knowledge of contract review, scope management, scheduling methodologies, and cost control.
  • Proficiency with Windows and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Proficient in creating and reviewing Gantt Chart-style project schedules.
  • Detail oriented while able to maintain strategic oversight of the entire project portfolio.
  • Extremely customer focused with the ability to operate in a high demand, fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
  • BS in a relevant major from an accredited college/university. Science or engineering preferred.
  • 15+ years of project management experience or equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities, with at least 8-10 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Able to travel 10-20%.
  • Managed or created a highly efficient and focused Project Management Office.
  • Must possess valid driver's license.
