Position Summary
The Maintenance / Environmental Services Assistant supports the Environmental Services Director (ESD) with the day-to-day maintenance, safety, and appearance of the community including resident apartments, common areas, grounds, mechanical systems, and transportation services.
This role helps ensure the community remains safe, clean, organized, and operational while building positive relationships with residents and supporting their overall quality of life.
The ideal candidate is dependable, mechanically inclined, team-oriented, and passionate about serving seniors.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with general maintenance and repair tasks throughout the community
  • Support upkeep of resident apartments, common areas, grounds, and equipment
  • Assist with preventative maintenance and safety inspections
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and overall appearance of the community
  • Support basic plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and mechanical repairs as needed
  • Safely operate and maintain community vehicles and transportation equipment
  • Drive the community van for resident transportation and outings as needed
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and community needs
  • Communicate effectively with leadership and other departments
  • Build positive relationships with residents and provide excellent customer service

Qualifications
  • Previous maintenance, environmental services, facilities, transportation, or senior living experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of building maintenance, repair work, and safety procedures
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to safely operate community transportation vehicles
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Compassionate and resident-focused attitude
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
