Job description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The primary objective of this position is to provide daily operations pertaining to the hourly workforce. Essential duties are maintaining timekeeping for hourly payroll, benefits issues, employee file maintenance and Talent Center database management. This role acts in the HR capacity at all times and will fill in for questions and support in the absence of the Sr. Manufacturing HR Leader.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Payroll
  • Process primary employee payroll weekly
  • Payroll Coordinator duties with oversight and administration of Kronos UKG up to and including training and certifying new department payroll admins.
  • Responsible for maintenance of time clocks at the Roofing plants
  • Respond to payroll issues from hourly paid employees
  • Coordinate or assist employees with all payroll changes (tax Changes, direct deposit, garnishments, deductions...etc)
  • Be sole point of contact for Payroll Shared Services and problem ticket entry and resolution
  • Research for annual labor market survey

Benefits
  • Maintain a high level of understanding on all benefits and respond to routine benefit questions or escalate to appropriate resource
  • Facilitate open enrollment meetings and one-on-one's
  • Primary liaison with ROHN and DCM with issues with FMLA/STD

Talent Center
  • Update employee data as necessary in Employee Central
  • Run routine and non-routine reports
  • Calculate quarterly incentive plan payout (VIP) and Employee Performance Awards (EPA) as required.

Staffing
  • Arrange Plant Tours and Interviews
  • Coordinate all pre-placement activities as per policy, including drug screen & medical questionnaire and launch onboarding
  • Manage all hourly recruitment in Talent Center
  • Assist with orientation and on boarding for hourly and salary employees

Employee Files
  • Ensure that employee information is filed in compliance with company and governmental regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of employee information

Other Activities
  • Assist Employee Resource Groups and community service efforts
  • Oversee all corrective actions/discipline to ensure compliance with company policy and best practices regarding documentation
  • Keep all HR communication boards updated throughout the plant, including mandated postings
  • Drive an actively engaged culture through positive interactions
  • Facilitate/coordinate plant events
  • Employee uniform service liaison
  • Manage Union dues payments
  • Actively engage in the plant's Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) efforts through maintaining 5S standards and area/pillar activities as assigned.
  • Remain actively 100% engaged in all safety initiatives and comply with all plant safety regulations
  • Provide support to managers/supervisors on issues of company/HR policy application
  • Regular onsite attendance
  • All other duties as assigned or needed that can be performed safely

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Union experience required
  • Ability to interact and communicate will all levels of employees and management
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including knowledge of EEO, FLSA, ADA, and FMLA
  • Experience with HRIS systems

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  1. Must understand verbal and written instructions
  2. Must perform basic mathematical calculation
  3. Must have high level of professionalism, discretion and business ethics
  4. Strong communication and attention to detail

COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite
  • UKG and Kronos software experience preferred
  • OneDrive experience preferred

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Complete all annual safety and role specific training, as required by the nature of this position
  • Must pass all required assessments

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Wear required PPE equipment (safety glasses, bump cap, steel toe boots, ear protection, heat/cut resistant gloves, long sleeve shirt, and face mask)
  • Climb and descend stairs
  • Lift, push, and pull 30lbs as needed
  • Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements
