Job description

JOB TITLE: Human Resources Business Advisor          

BRANCH: Calgary, AB

REPORTING TO: General Manager, Human Resources 

In-Office (No work-from-home) HR Business Advisor is responsible for providing operational HR support to Management staff and employees within a defined region.  They will also be responsible for executing HR procedures and solutions for their group.  This includes advisement and administration of all employee new hires, changes and terminations as well as performance reviews, employee coaching, workforce planning, salary reviews, employee engagement projects. The incumbent will also be asked to assist and back up RME’s recruiters on an as needed basis. The role will also include reporting duties which will require an advanced experience level of excel.     

Job Duties and Responsibilities Include:

•    Provide advice and human resources service in areas such as recruitment and retention, training, program development, total compensation, job classification, coaching and mentoring line managers on HR issues and concerns. Working with an assigned business portfolio, you will facilitate positive outcomes, resolve workplace conflicts and manage employee relations issues. 

•    Manage and administer all New Hires, Terminations and employee changes. Provide business specific inputs to the development and execution of the people strategy with support from the General Manager, HR. 

•    Advise Managers and employees on the interpretation of personnel policies, compensation and benefit programs. 

•    Research and prepare occupational classifications, job descriptions, salary scales and competency appraisal measures and systems. 

•    Translates HR strategy into practical and effective HR solutions, where required in conjunction with company procedures

•    Promote a high level of trust, credibility and respect with Branch staff by understanding their business goals and priorities and maintaining strong business relationships. 

•    Proactively gain employee/client feedback to aid HR functions improve service levels and alert Corporate Services team in areas where an issue/project may impact on other areas.

•    Equip Managers with appropriate tools and knowledge to effectively manage their people in line with their people plans e.g. performance management, absence management, career management etc. 

•    Create, update, maintain all form letters, policies, procedures for HR team sharing on HRIS.

•    Closely monitor and help report on Turnover and Attrition. 

•    Plan, develop, implement and evaluate personnel strategies including policies, programs and procedures to address an organization's human resource requirements.

•    Manage programs and maintain human resources information and related records systems.

•    Hire and oversee the administration of onboarding of staff.

•    Help support  and Co-ordinate employee performance programs.

•    Research employee benefit and health and safety practices and recommend changes or modifications to existing policies.

Recruitment 

•    Collaborate with hiring managers to gather data for workforce planning, occasionally assist recruiters at times to complete position requirements for current recruitment needs. 

•    Provide key administration for RME’s Temporary Foreign Worker Program, including sourcing, liaising with external agencies, immigration lawyers and foreign candidates 

Job Requirements and Qualifications Include:

•    5 plus years of related experience preferred in an HR generalist capacity with proven ability to manage a complex workload 

•    Experience in Recruiting/ Talent Acquisition and utilizing an applicant tracking system is required

•    Must be able to travel 1-2 times per month (highway driving). 

•    Strong business acumen

•    Strong industry knowledge both in Human Resources and demonstrated experience working within a branch model

•    University degree in related field 

•    CHRP designation an asset but not required

•    Strong understanding of effective communication tactics in order to gain buy-in and consistency of messaging

•    Proven ability to lead and influence thinking and actions of others as well as demonstrated resourcefulness and creativity in bringing positive and pragmatic business solutions to the table
