We're partnering with a growing industrial manufacturing organization seeking an experienced HR Manager to build and lead its U.S. Human Resources function. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR leader who enjoys creating processes, building infrastructure, and partnering closely with leadership in a high-growth environment.


This position is based in Nashville, TN, with regular travel to a manufacturing facility in Huntingdon, TN to support plant leadership and employees.

About the Role

The HR Manager will serve as the primary HR leader for the U.S. organization, partnering closely with leadership, finance, and operations to support a growing manufacturing workforce. This individual will be responsible for developing HR infrastructure, ensuring compliance, supporting recruitment, managing employee relations, administering payroll and benefits, and implementing scalable HR programs and systems.


The ideal candidate is equally comfortable thinking strategically while remaining hands-on in day-to-day HR operations.


Responsibilities

HR Leadership & Strategy

  • Establish and develop the U.S. Human Resources function and infrastructure
  • Partner with executive leadership to align HR initiatives with business objectives
  • Create scalable HR processes, policies, and programs to support future growth
  • Evaluate existing HR practices and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Help build the long-term structure of the HR department
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and leadership

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Lead recruitment efforts across professional, operational, and manufacturing positions
  • Develop and improve hiring processes
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding programs

Employee Relations & Organizational Development

  • Serve as the primary HR resource for employee relations matters
  • Coach managers on performance management and employee development
  • Foster a positive, high-performing workplace culture
  • Develop employee engagement and retention initiatives

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Maintain HR records and personnel documentation
  • Oversee employment compliance programs (I-9, FMLA, COBRA, EEO, etc.)
  • Support workers' compensation and workplace safety initiatives
  • Assist with audits and compliance reporting

Payroll, Benefits & Compensation

  • Manage payroll administration in partnership with Finance
  • Ensure accurate payroll processing and employee record maintenance
  • Administer employee benefits programs
  • Support compensation reviews and salary administration
  • Respond to employee payroll and benefits questions

HR Systems & Process Improvement

  • Evaluate and improve HR systems and processes
  • Implement HR technology solutions
  • Support onboarding, background screening, benefits administration, and process automation
  • Develop HR reporting and analytics


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is a plus
  • 8+ years of progressive Human Resources experience
  • Previous HR leadership experience with broad HR responsibilities
  • Experience building or improving HR processes and infrastructure
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance, payroll, and employee relations
  • Manufacturing, industrial, distribution, or other blue-collar workforce experience required
  • Self-starter who thrives in a growing organization
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
